With my co-producer extraordinaire @camelias_insta - trying to look as badass as we could right before the release of #modifiedthefilm, a year ago. (I was terrified!!) A year later, the film has screened at over 40 film festivals, 50 theatrical and community screenings, and picked up 11 awards! It’s been one hell of a journey, and it’s still going strong... This month, we have a whole line-up of exciting screenings from coast to coast and abroad, the full listings is linked in my profile. Tomorrow, I’m off to Hudson, NY to present the film at @tsl_hudson. I’ll be doing a Q & A after the film with @nofanewyork’s Executive Director and @roxburyfarmcsa. Please join us / tag a friend in Hudson! Saturday the film is showing at @stlfilmfest in St. Louis, Missouri and Sunday in Cooperstown, NY during the @glimmerglassfilmdays! If you’d like to see the film, check our full listings and if it’s not screening near you, you can request to host a public screening in your community via our website. The film will also be released on DVD & online streaming platforms this spring. I’ll be announcing those release dates very soon! Thank you infinitely to so many of you who have supported the film, I never could have done it without you 💕🙏❤️ Photo by the talented @addie_daisy

Did you catch my recent @pbsfood video featuring food historian and author Sandy Oliver who lives on the magical Maine island of Isleboro? In the video, she shares her famous dilly beans recipe. Who doesn’t love a good dilly bean?! Link in profile. #dillybeans #isleboro #kitchenvignettes #farmtotable

America, please vote to elect representatives who are not bought by industry money and hate, but who instead represent the people and what is best for our ailing planet. We urgently need to elect climate leaders because in the words of biologist Dave Goulson: “Forget the economy, forget the health service, forget the rest of it. None of these things will matter if we don’t have a healthy environment because everything else will collapse.” Scientists unanimously tell us we are heading towards complete disaster if we don’t take immediate action to drastically curb our greenhouse gas emissions. Let’s elect intelligent leaders who see the urgency of our predicament. #vote2018 #grabthembytheballot #climatechange #yourvotematters

These are one of my favorite easy peasy pumpkin season treats to make. The original recipe on my blog from a few years ago calls for 1 cup pumpkin purée, 1/3 cup honey, and 1/2 cup coconut oil. But I’ve been making them with maple syrup instead of honey and subbing a bit of ghee for some of the coconut oil and it gives them a more complex caramel-like taste that I love. Also, they are ALWAYS better (isn’t everything?) when the pumpkin is subbed for a rich velvety winter squash instead, like delicata, buttercup, or kabocha. I’ll link the original recipe in my profile, but feel free to play with this one! Add some spices, vanilla, etc. Just be sure to cook the pumpkin purée and maple syrup til they’re nice and thick before adding the oil. #healthytreats #pumpkincaramels

Back from 4 glorious days in Vermont: ate delicious food, showed my film in 3 different towns, met some wonderful folks, received the Audience Favorite Award at @vermontfilm festival (thank you Vermont!!!) AND fulfilled my long-time goal of tasting a famous @missweinerz donut! It was everything I hoped it would be. I ate the grape-glaze donut on the spot, in a cloud of ecstasy, and managed to score the very last apple cider donut which I’m about to devour for breakfast. I 💘 Vermont forever!! #vermontlove

Last night, while the audience was all tucked in with my film in the dark coziness of Montpelier’s Savoy Theater, I took a little walk to the Vermont State House and stood in the exact spot where I stood with my camera 2 years ago, filming the speeches on July 1, 2016 as Vermont became the first and only state in the US to implement a true GMO labeling law. A week later, that law was overturned by industry-backed federal legislation (the DARK Act) which banned states from passing GMO labeling laws. What struck me and inspired me that day in Vermont was witnessing politicians who were truly representing their constituents and placing citizen interest ahead of those of large corporations and lobbyists. It gave me hope that a better world is possible, that good politicians do exist. Vermont is a state that gives me hope in these dark and frankly terrifying political times. I hope with all my heart that Americans vote next month to turn this beast of a ship around. #vermontstatehouse #hope #modifiedthefilm

Happy World Food Day everyone! I just arrived in my favorite foodie state to celebrate Food Week of Action with a little whirlwind film tour! Showing my film #modifiedthefilm tonight (!!) in Middlebury, Vermont at The Marquis Theatre (6:30pm), tomorrow night in Montpelier, VT at The Savoy Theater (7 pm), and Friday in Burlington, VT (4:15pm) at @vermontfilm! I’ll be joined at all screenings by @nofavermont for a post-film Q & A. I hope to see some of you Vermonters there ❤️❤️❤️ Up north, my film opens tonight at @globecinema_yyc in Calgary where it will show until Thursday. Hope you are enjoying all things food this week as much as our pup enjoys frolicking around the cabbage patch! 📷 @roykortick
