PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE... I love this time of year when all of my #dallasblondes are craving some depth! Angie was all in and ready for some low maintenance locks to get her through the busy holiday season. We typically do a traditional #balayage service but today we decided to do a color melt service. This is one of my favorite services for my blondies and gives just enough depth without going too dark. I used @redken Shades EQ gloss in 7GB on zone 1 and 9GB in zone 2. Tip: I like to leave the face frame out and use my zone 2 formula in zone 1 here to keep the brightness around the face. Loving the @oliviagardenint brush loaned (gifted? ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ) to me by @anthonybarnhillhair to achieve the perfect melted blend. Depending on desired results I sometimes add a third formula in zone 3, but we wanted to keep her brightness through her ends so I didnโ€™t add a 3rd formula. After her color service I gave her a #softundercut for tons of body and movement. ๐Ÿ’š ๐ŸŽฅ: @sarah_delagarza

Balayage Summit... I took this beautiful @certifiedhaircolorists class model from golden sunkissed blonde to brighter Dallas blonde using our Abstrakt Blonde highlighting technique. Swipe ๐Ÿ‘ˆ๐Ÿผ for the before pic! I use @jackwinnpro brilliant Lightener to create her seamless blend. Of course I prepped her with a @malibucpro Crystal Gel to remove minerals and deposits and used @olaplex throughout the process. Prior to her color service I gave her a #softundercut using the @curatedcutting technique from @anhcotran ๐Ÿ’š #bal#balayagesummit2019 #balayagesummit

Cutting extensions is one of the most challenging parts of the entire install service. Here are some of my favorite tips for creating a seamless blend after install: 1. Slide cut every section. I prefer using a feather razor but a shear works great too. Just as long as youโ€™re always slide cutting, this is most important. 2. Donโ€™t elevate your sections. Unlike cutting a clientโ€™s real hair, it is important to always cut extensions as close to where they are going to live as possible. 3. Be aware where the clients real hair ends and the extensions start; this is where I start my slide cutting. Iโ€™m always mindful not to cut into my clients real hair so as not to create a problem when the extensions are removed. This is also the case when cutting the face frame. The clientโ€™s real hair is what I use as my guide, then I slide cut everything in between to the perimeter. 4. If the color match wasnโ€™t accurate, no amount of cutting will make the extensions blend. Youโ€™ll have to go in and color the extensions to match. 5. If the extensions are too bulky and look โ€œfakeโ€, add internal movement by slide cutting more out internally. 6. Take your time. Iโ€™ve seen stylists who cut extensions like Edward Scissorhands in a matter of minutes. Take small sections and slide cut as many times as needed until you see the blend youโ€™re looking for so clients can wear their weave curly OR straight ๐Ÿ’š
