“For what it’s worth, it’s never too late to be whoever you want to be ... You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you’ve never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you are not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again.” -F. Scott Fitzgerald. .
Joshua Tree ➕ July 2018
The past 7 days have been a blur. Last Saturday my PaPa went to heaven to be with Jesus and we’ve been spending most of the week at the farm with family, sharing memories and celebrating his life. Papa was the best grandpa I could ever ask for and he was such a big part of my life. If you knew me- my PaPa was probably mentioned in conversations we’ve had.
He was a talented wood worker who made many of the light fixtures and decorations in our home. If you’ve ever walked inside our house, you’ve seen me proudly point out all of the things he made for us and all of the barnwood from my grandparent’s childhood farms. Some of my favorite memories with papa were riding on his golf cart with him. Wether it was planning our wedding, checking on the garden, or grabbing the mail, he’d always be in the drivers seat with a big grin, waiting for the opportunity to take you for a ride.
He’d be at every dance recital, or event that my brothers and I were involved in- giving us a big thumbs up from the audience. That was his thing. The second photo of this post is from our family road trip to South Dakota. He was looking at the view and we asked him “hey papa- how’s the view!!?” And he did this. The classic Papa thumbs up. 👍🏻 I can only imaging that if we could ask him how the view is right know in heaven, he’d do the exact same thing. 🖤 my heart is heavy that he isn’t physically with us anymore- but I will forever be grateful for all of the memories we shared here on earth, and can’t wait to drive the golf cart with him in heaven someday.
Hopped off the plane yesterday with no plan. So naturally we found the nearest burritos and hiking trails, and set off. I def married the right person. 🌯🙌🏻 Today- we shoot a wedding & tomorrow we head to Joshua Tree! If anyone is going to be in Joshua tree this weekend and wants to shoot, holler!
This photo pretty much sums up how I feel about it being Friday! 🙌🏻 We’re on our way to Wisconsin Dells with the Becker fam to play with our nephews at the water parks all weekend long and I cannot wait!! 🤗 if you have any recommendations on what to do while we are there, let me know! 👇🏻 also- Lydia and Jacob- how are you so perfect???! 💛 this session was sooo much fun and yellow chiffon skirts should be a new requirement at all engagement sessions moving forward 😜😍 @lydia_dodds
The only thing on today’s agenda: be outside & get a tan. ✔️🦄☀️ (more freckles than tan... but I tried!) Saturday’s like this are so rare & my heart is so thankful for days like today. Trying to make the most of my summer this year instead of working it away 🙃
