Believing. Achieving. Serving.
Old traditions and new smiles. Today, St. Patrick held its annual Christmas luncheon for staff and students, a tradition that has carried on for over 3 decades. With the amalgamation of St. Brigid and St. Patrick this past September, many students at the school had an opportunity to experience this anticipated festivity for the first time. With no shortage of love or stuffing to go around, we’re certain this new school family will be enjoying this event for decades more to come.

Congratulations to Teresa Susi, a 2018 Distinguished Service Award recipient. As the driving force behind the annual garage sale and Liuna Dinner-Dance, Teresa has worked behind the scenes and raised tens of thousands of dollars for the CYO and our Equal Opportunities schools. On November 27, Teresa was thrust into the spotlight for her efforts on behalf of children. Waving aside the accolades, Teresa took her time at the podium to drum up ticket sales. That’s why we love you, Teresa.

Congratulations, Jerry Ponikvar on your recent Award for Distinguished Service. As Director of Education from 1990 to 1995, Jerry not only introduced a number of initiatives, including the board’s Mission, but oversaw the opening of several new schools. “I really believe that the important elements in Catholic education are sincere dedication, putting your heart and soul into what you are doing, giving it your all because you believe in it, and most importantly, you have to live it.”

Jenny Frappa is an exemplary Catholic principal who leads by empowering others, recognizing their talents, encouraging them and giving them the freedom to show initiative. Under Jenny’s watch, St. Marguerite d’Youville CES has not only become Canada’s ‘greenest’ school but a house of prayer. On November 27, Jenny’s contributions were recognized with a 2018 Award for Distinguished Service. “Each of us has the ability to positively influence others,” she said.

A full house tonight at STM for #WeScareHunger! This is its 19th year collecting non-perishable food items for the local @n2ncentre. To date, the school has collected over 800,000 lbs of food in support of those less fortunate. Thank you to all the students, staff, alumni & members of our #HamOnt community for putting your faith into action. #WSH2018

On October 14, close to 3,000 students and staff set out from Cathedral High School on an 8km “Walk with Christ” in support of the poor in the Global South. The Pilgrimage, established 15 years ago as a system-wide service project for Grade 7-12 students, not only teaches students about issues in the developing world, but creates a mechanism through which they can commit financial and emotional support. More than $600,000 has been raised for development projects in Haiti, Uganda and the Dominican Republic. Please check out our Facebook page for more photos.
