One of the half dozen stream crossings we had in the Cloud Peak Wilderness. The big question when crossing a river or creek - remove shoes or leave them on? What do you do? Some people carry an extra pair of sandals, shoes, crocs, or something just for crossings. I usually go barefoot to keep my shoes dry. If there are lots of crossings or rain or heavy dew so my feet are already wet, then I just plod through.

Our Cloud Peak summit hike started with a great sunrise. We waited to see what the weather looked like before deciding, and this was good enough. This is looking up the mountain from the top of the waterfall at its base.

So many many horse in the mountains! We met at least eight different groups on the trails. Our entry point was right at a horse camp where lots of folks had their RVs and rode in on day rides. Plenty of room for all of us out there

The requisite view from the summit of Cloud Peak looking down to Glacier Lake. My trek journal is online at HikingDude.com for details about our awesome adventure. It was such a great trip!

Backpacking in Cloud Peak wilderness for a week. View from our campsite the first night. Elk mountain up close and Bomber Mountain way in the back. Don't you love that blue sky?

I'm back from a week long trek in Wyoming. It was wonderful and every day was full of views like this! Now for a long drive home and more of the story this coming week.

Disappointment! Turn around and go the other direction - problem solved. #trailclosed #hiking #hikingdude

Yet another tiny friend met on my morning hike today! He was in such a hurry to get someplace. If this was a person, he should have gone a ways off trail and buried that pile.☺ I'll be getting plenty of practice doing just that next week in the Wyoming mountains while we're in the wilderness for 6 days.
