“We first came to this place for the summer music series and fell in love. It’s such a great place on its own and then add in the fact it’s a museum and has art. Great location.” - Review by Krista Schroth

#GardenDesign has a long and fascinating history beginning in the Middle Ages at monasteries and manor houses. Mrs. Sloane originally designed the #SunkenGarden pictured here in the 1920s. In 2013 the Algonquin Garden Club adopted the garden and replanted it based on her original design. Today the garden includes flowers such as #hollyhocks, #liatris, and #foxgloves.
This Wednesday our new Curator Philip Riske will be discussing the history of the #HermitageGardens and the principles that will guide him moving forward. Stop by to enjoy a glass of beer or wine and what’s sure to be an interesting talk. Save your spot on our website at TheHermitageMuseum.org.
#MeetTheArtist#KiyomiIwata, one of 10 featured artists in our summer exhibition, currently lives in Richmond, Virginia. Kiyomi moved to the US in 1961 to study English and began creating art after attending a batik dyeing class at @vmfamuseum. Her work has been collected by @metmuseum, @renwickgallery, and @americanart, and other museums around the world. We are proud to present recent and brand new work by Iwata for Conversations: Contemporary Asian Art opening June 14.
See the work first at an unforgettable evening of art, music, and food—find the link in our bio.
