We get so worried about being seen as attractive or physically beautiful. It’s not entirely your fault. You’ve grown up in a world that’s filled your mind with the belief that physical beauty equates worth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As a little girl in the checkout line with your mom, the women on the magazines were always small. They’re photoshopped, but you didn’t know that then. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As a young girl watching tv, the main characters were typically very thin. Many actresses in those shows have now stated they starved themselves for specific roles. But you didn’t know that then because you were a child. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s not your fault that you still have beliefs that you aren’t beautiful if your tummy folds when you sit, or that your skin has dimples. But I hope you consciously make more of an effort to tell yourself the truth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The truth that the world has been wrong and there is so much more to life than being pretty. I hope you choose to love yourself for who you are, not how you look, and that you show up. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Together, we can change how the next young girls see beauty in themselves - In their strength, wit, kindness, and love - Not their hips.
