Moose are still active in the park during the harsh winter. In order for a moose to survive cold tempertures, they have to conserve as much energy as they can. During the winter, they have less food available and have to spend more energy keeping warm. ❄️ To avoid startling a moose and having it expend energy, stay at least 25 yards away and keep your pets leashed. ❄️ #mygrandteton #findyourpark #encuentratuparque NPS Photo/L. Tonight, the sun dipped low to cast the clouds in golden shimmer. Not to be outdone, the snow reflected the firey hues up and out in a soft pink glow. In their combined light, the trees, mountains, and traveling people were suspended in the fading magic of golden hour. #mygrandteton #findyourpark #encuentratuparque NPS Photo/L. Watkins

Jim Manges looked at a snow shovel and said “I’ve got a better idea.” Above the window, you’ll see his second story door. ❄️☃️ He was thinking ahead when he built his house in 1911. In the winter of 1904, the valley received 11.7 inches in one day making it the snowiest day on record for Jackson. #mygrandteton #findyourpark #encuentratuparque NPS photo/L. Watkins

How old do you think these snowshoes are? A portion of the snowshoes we use for ranger led programs are antiques. You can literally walk a mile in someone else's snowshoes!
