And when I say winning I mean happiness! This is something I am about to adjust, I have had an open door policy for years and it’s worked in a stunningly good way especially as people started chatting about how real it was however I am aware and focused on adjusting to scale me being on the offense in scheduling time with employees, the cartoon above is what I have been doing, which if I can sense something is off, I jump in, I often don’t have the luxury of seeing it, especially with 900 employees* across so many offices spanning from Singapore to London to Chattanooga to LA, so, we keep chipping away! If you’re a leader, try both open door and proactive conversations, don’t wait for reviews or when someone quits to finally talk to your team! *A CEO actually has 900 bosses not employees ;)
