Since moving to my cottage in the woods last fall, I've been putting a lot more energy into healing the baggage from childhood that I bring into my relationships. 🌲☀️⠀
I've done years of talk therapy, and some expressive art and movement therapies, but I only recently have learned about the ways trauma is actually stored in the nervous system. 💫☮️⠀
It's really been impactful to understand what developmental and complex traumas even are, and how extremely common they are, and to understand that the nervous system strategies I needed to employ to protect myself when younger are now harming me. 🌻🌿
I've been doing deep work from some different angles: guided self-hypnosis, reparenting, journalling, talking with friends about my traumatic experiences, listening to books about attachment theory, compassion practice, allowing all the feels, nature therapy, meditation, entheogens..... 🌟🌺⠀
Even though I've been doing personal development work since my teens, I'm really experiencing how healing happens like an onion, layer by layer. Topics I thought I'd integrated I now realize had only been acknowledged by my MIND. My body has still been stuck in the memories...
I'm so humbled, yet excited, by the work, - and progress and adventure that's to come!!! ✨🌈⠀
