Here's a reminder with all that's going on to make sure we're diligent about #SmashingThePatriarchy wherever it rears its ugly head.

ICYMI, over the weekend Robert F Smith, a billionaire investor, wiped the student debt of the #Morehouse 2019 graduating class as he gave the commencement address. That's 390+ black men who will go into the next chapter of their lives without the noose of debt around their neck. Here's to those with privilege using it to elevate others. More of this please 👏👏👏 - @D.vuh . . Art: @KendrickDaye

#MuhlaysiaBooker, a 23 year-old trans woman, who was filmed being brutally beaten last month, was found shot to death over the weekend in Dallas. She is just one of (too) many trans black women who has suffered gross abuse at the hands of the black men in our community. Transphobia is NOT a joke. Hold your peers accountable. #RestInPower #SayHerName . . Art and words: @KendrickDaye

Our ARTivist of the week is Anshika ‘Ash’ Khullar, AKA @aorists, is an Indian, feminist, trans/genderfluid illustrator based in Southampton, England. Their work digital drawings deal with issues of race and gender, in highly stylized representations of dissent and power. The characters in their work are always expressive, dynamic, fashion-forward and ready to fight any and all misogynistic & homophobic bullshit. 🖕🌈 - @HoneyHuckle

Today is #IDAHOBIT, International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia. It also happens to be the day that Taiwan became the first Asian country to legalize same-sex marriage! 😍 We bear witness to every manifestation of gender and sexuality as it appears in our friends, family, strangers, lovers, and those halfway around the world. You are valid. You deserve every ounce of respect, love, and abundance. Sending waves of love and gratitude for our queer family everywhere, and especially those in Taiwan celebrating what is long-overdue!! 🇹🇼 - @HoneyHuckle 💙💚💛💜🧡♥️ . . Art: @KendrickDaye

PREACH 🗣️🗣️🗣️ @brittanypacknett: "You ever wonder why the same people who claim to care so much about what’s in a woman’s womb don’t seem to care much at all about a child’s welfare outside of the womb? Especially poor children of color?" . . Art: @KendrickDaye

ICYMI, today #Missouri passed a bill that would ban abortion after 8 weeks. We're watching in real time as the fabric of American society is being rewoven; more states - motivated by the momentum that's been generated by #Alabama and #Georgia - are moving on similar bills. White people are universally driving these restrictions, but its marginalized people who are going to be most adversely affected. Stand up. Donate to local orgs like @yellowfund. Speak out on your social media feeds. And at every level - local, state and federal - VOTE THEM OUT. This is our country to take back. . . Words: @AllieHoffman

"#Gentrification has been called “the new urban renewal” in recent decades – it is widely understood to be linked to declining inner-city crime rates, and may partially explain why urban areas in the US have recently exploded in population. When considering the question of urban renewal, however, we must ask ourselves: whom, exactly, are our cities being “renewed” for when they are being gentrified? Who are the winners and who are the losers of the process? While some claim gentrification has "revived" city neighborhoods, there is no denying that it has disproportionately benefitted largely white, upper middle class people, whilst simultaneously working to further concentrate enclaves of poverty, and in turn, exacerbate racial inequality. We need #equitable urban planning to begin to tackle the epidemic of systemic oppression in this country from the ground up. . . Art: @KendrickDaye | Words: @LucyTheLyon
