Purple is a tricky color for decorating (and frankly is a bit controversial in our offices), but you can’t deny that it’s staking it’s claim in interiors lately. Today on the blog, Editorial Director @arlynhernandez is talking all about the lilac trend and why she, as a longtime purple skeptic, might just be rethinking her stance (spoiler alert: this kitchen has something to do with it). Initial thoughts? Link in my bio. 📷 by @devonbanksphoto via @dwellmagazine

Get ready because Emily Henderson is breaking her mold today and doing something preeetttyyy shocking in a new I Design, You Decide. I need your votes to help me decide on an exciting (& TERRIFYING) design move for the first level guest bath. Should I attempt a black wood-clad bathroom or play it safe with a (totally expected) lighter white version? Head to the blog, see all the plans and GO VOTE NOW, because I’m pacing in anticipation waiting to hear what you have to say. Link in bio.

Hands down the BEST thing I did in my entire life was land this man as the father of my children (and my husband). Our kids have no idea how lucky they are that You are their dad. Happy Father’s Day to the dad who can make an amazing lasagna, hit a baseball super far, and has a real desire to raise kind, loving, hard working, empathetic, grounded, happy children. So far so good - we are all pretty obsessed with you. :)

Every summer, I feel compelled to add more color, pattern and FUN to my wardrobe. And a summer dress is a super easy way to check all three of those boxes. So this summer, I forced myself to try shopping for dresses that break my usual mold. I only bought a couple, but I loved a lot so we rounded them all up on the blog for your weekend shopping pleasure. (Sadly the dress in the photo above is no longer available, but don’t worry, there are some other VERY pretty floral dresses in the round up.) Link in my bio.

On my way up to the mountain house this weekend to make EVEN MORE decisions and was feeling the inspiration itch. One look at what you all were up to over at the #ehd#ehdweekendmakeover hashtag (which you can follow now guys!) and I did a happy dance in my car seat when I saw this green kitchen from @jaclynpetersdesign. If anyone has a project they’re super excited about, don’t forget to tag it with #ehdweekendmakeover when posting to Instagram because I WANT TO SEE & SHARE, PLEASE.

Okay folks, it’s that time of year where we just want to live outdoors, smother our faces with watermelon juice (and SPF) and have al fresco get-togethers with loved ones. But before you can do that, you need an actual space to do that all in. Last month, I pulled together this fun and funky boho room for @targetstyle full of tips and tricks to get you barbecue-ready in a jiffy. On a scale of 1 to GIVE IT NOW, how much do you love these fringe-y hammocks?

Your home’s lighting plan is so much more than switching the flip on whatever overhead bulbs came with your place. Today on the blog, we’re going over some super scientific rules for how to layer your lighting, as well as how to expertly pair a floor and table lamp with some A+ real-life examples (like @bradytolbert’s living room here) and 20 shoppable combos. OPINIONS NEEDED: The past few months, the whole office has been focused on two big projects (the Mountain Fixer + the Portland Fixer) which have been creating a lot of in-depth design content for the blog, but this also means we haven’t been able to do as many makeovers or styled shoots. And that means less original content to share with you here. So here’s my question: Would you be interested in seeing some more curated, inspirational imagery here on my Instagram feed (work that isn’t EHD original but is BEAUTIFUL and inspiring to me, like this shot of @katherinepower & @justincoit’s living room designed by @jakealexanderarnold, featured in @archdigest) or would you prefer we keep posting favorite photos of our past projects and only share inspiration images when we truly don’t have something that illustrates the story we’re trying to tell? My goal is to share inspirational, educational, or entertaining content every day. Stuff that I would be excited to see or read. Once we finish Portland and the Mountain Fixers, we’ll have SO many pretty new photos to flood your feeds with but in the meantime, thoughts? Stick with original content or mix in what inspires us?
