Premier media company for the world’s most influential audiences.
Meet Sara Shakeel (@sarashakeel), the artist who created the latest @admiddleeast cover. Sara creates eye-catching work combining photography, real crystals and digital editing from her base in Islamabad, Pakistan. In just three years, she has gone from being a disillusioned dentistry student to a globe-trotting artist with a huge Instagram following (908K and counting). ⠀ Her love of reimagining historic buildings with a shimmering veneer (including this image of the Taj Mahal), made her the perfect choice to collaborate with on the cover for the #ArchitectualDigest Middle East ‘Royal’ issue, which celebrates the restoration of Diriyah in Saudi Arabia. ⠀ “I have long been a huge fan of Architectural Digest, and it’s such an honour to work with the team. I am truly grateful for the love and letting my artwork grace the cover of the magazine,” says Sara. #InsideCondeNast

As CMO and Director of General Sales & Marketing at Condé Nast Italy, @airoldi is one of the youngest CMOs working at Condé Nast today. For our second installment of our #WeAreCondeNast series, we find out about her motivations, her leadership style and how she manages pressure. ⠀ Q: What motivates you in your work? A: The teachings of the extraordinary people I’ve encountered over the course of my working life, from Franca Sozzani to Fedele Usai (the current CEO of Condé Nast Italy). I’m very lucky because every day I meet outstanding people, full of creativity and talent, who share the idea that nothing is impossible and that, in this extensive media revolution, there are many challenges that really create opportunities. Above all, there’s the youthful and dynamic team I lead, who subscribe to the following philosophy along with me: together we can all be agents of change. ⠀ Q: What is the biggest misconception about being in a position of authority? If you could change one thing... A: Often, a woman’s passion is mistaken for excessive emotion. I actually find that this degree of personal involvement produces a high level of quality and efficiency—the marriage of heart and mind. ⠀ Read the full article on our website at the link in our bio.

“To put it bluntly: the café is for small talk and the bar is for deeper conversations. The best thing is that the conversations can go anywhere in this dim light. I like the dark very much.” ⠀ To kickstart #2020, we’ve got a behind-the-scenes snippet for you of German actor @officialfredericklau on his @gq_germany cover shoot. Frederick mixed drinks at the bar and talked about his love of Boston Sours and working on his latest film projects. ⠀ To read the full interview with Frederick and see the shoot by @lottermannfuentes, head over to gq.de.

Introducing our new #WeAreCondeNast series, which will profile our people around the world. We will be asking the questions that don’t often get answered, and digging into the working lives of our teams across Condé Nast, from our editors-in-chief and senior leaders to our engineers, videographers, assistants, and everyone in between. ⠀ First up: President of @condenastrussia, @anitagigovskaya. ⠀ Q: How does being a woman influence your vision for the company? A: Firstly, the majority of our audience is women. Our products are aimed at women like me, so it is easy to put myself in the shoes of our readers. ⠀ Secondly, I tend to agree with contemporary management theories which suggest a new kind of leader is required. Someone who is a coach, a mentor, a cheerleader, a crisis manager, who is not afraid to lead. It’s not the strongest who survive, it is the most capable who adapt. ⠀ Q: What is the biggest misconception about women in leadership? A: That women are either career-obsessed warriors or family-oriented housewives. The skills required to raise a child always come in handy when working with a team. You cannot force a child to do something – but you can motivate them. You need alignment and team spirit to transform the business. ⠀ Q: I am proud to be part of Condé Nast because ________ A: Paraphrasing Condé Montrose Nast, and his 1913 essay on Class Publications: “In a world where everyone is after violets, we are the ones producing the precious violet essence.” That makes me proud to be a part of such an inspiring company. ⠀ Read our full interview with Anita over on condenast.com (link in bio) in our 'News' section. ⠀ 📸 by Danil Golovkin
