The mental battle between a batter and a bowler in cricket is something else. Unlike baseball, batters step into their strike zone and find angles that aren’t limited by foul balls. However, just like baseball, those mental battles for positioning have physical casualties.
It's easy for Americans to forget, but the Olympics have an overwhelming and longterm impact on every host country. Today in Japan, protestors are pitted against their government. They are rioting out of respect for the working poor who are still recovering from the effects of the 2011 Nuclear failure. They are fighting against discrimination. "'The displacement already happening will just move more people from their homes. All Olympics discriminate. Some people are prioritized. Others are disregarded.' After touring future Olympic sites, we could all see who the winners will be: well-connected developers, construction magnates, and security barons.
