Meet Chef Margaret LaVetty, Executive Chef at Barcelona Edgehill. ––––– Q: Describe the moment you knew you wanted to be a chef. A: When I was six years old I received an easy-bake oven for Christmas. The next day I convinced my mom to allow me to bake cakes—much to my disappointment the easy-bake oven came without a light bulb (which is where the heat comes from). After trying several light bulbs to no avail, my mom made the decision that I was old enough to use the "big girl oven"—that was the day for me! ▪️ Q: What is one thing your mentor told you that you live by and now share with your culinary team? A: Chef Mako at China Grill once told me that there are two types of employees—renters and owners. From amaizing sweet corn and ripe tomatoes, earthy greens and summer squash, to cool radishes and herbs galore, chef’s unique selection of passed tapas are going to be a real farmtastic experience. From namaste to rosé (well, technically mimosas)—we’re hosting yoga and brunch on the patio. Certified Yoga instructor Simone Mayers (@sincerelysimonexo) will be leading a well-rounded yoga class—creating balance and focus mentally, physically, and emotionally—set to an instrumental playlist. (Simone has been teaching Yoga for over three years and has been with the Barcelona family for over a year). This class is perfect for all experience levels—promising to leave students feeling strong and centered. After class, we’re serving freshly squeezed juice, a complimentary mimosa, and a light breakfast buffet with fresh fruit and yogurt.

On Saturday, June 23rd Zumba instructor, Melissa Boyles will be taking the “work” out of workout with a high-intensity rhythmic Zumba class featuring choreographed Latin dance moves. (Melissa has been teaching Zumba for over eight years and has been with our Barcelona team for over a year). This class will be easy-to-follow—perfect for all experience levels.
