A big ‘THANKS’ goes out to Hancock Whitney for awarding BakerRipley a $15,000 grant to help create small business opportunities for the region’s Spanish-speaking communities. Since we launched one of Houston’s first entrepreneurship programs for Spanish-speaking individuals three years ago, the need for and interest in the program has more than tripled.
This company is paying it forward in the true spirit of the holiday season!
Christmas came early for one Kashmere Gardens resident. Read about Clayton Jackson’s surprise furniture shopping spree, how he embodies the giving spirit by paying it forward to a family member and several of his neighbors and what BakerRipley is doing to help him recover from Harvey.
Here at BakerRipley we truly believe the magic of the holidays truly brings out the best in people.
When Disaster Case Manager Arlene Lassin stopped by to check in on her neighbor, 87-year-old Patricia Crawford, she realized she needed two sets of sheets, a comforter, blanket and towels to make living a bit easier.
Arlene called on the generosity of her Facebook group and they responded with the donation.
We’re happy to say Arlene dropped off the Christmas surprise to Patricia and she is truly appreciative for the early Christmas gifts.
Way to go Arlene!
If you are paying it forward to others this holiday season, please snap a photo and/or share your story here!
BakerRipley is dedicated to helping as many disaster recovery neighbors as we can move home for the holidays!
To date, we have 706 homes completed or near completion and are making progress towards our goal of assisting 1,000 of our neighbors with home restoration.
The road to recovery is long, but it is hopeful. We intend to be that beacon of hope after the storm just like we were for our neighbor Betty Cole. Read about her story on our blog at BakerRipley.org (link in our bio). https://www.bakerripley.org/blog/stories-from-the-recovery-prayers-answered
