Our current exhibition "Resident Alien" chronicles iconic works of expat Austrian masters in the US, from the classic modernist forms of Adolf Loos to current high-tech works of Peter Trummer. _ The curators divided our multi-level gallery into five distinct spaces: Primitive Domains, Aggregate Families, Urban Terrestrials, Cloud Natures, and Media Atmospheres. This installation view shows the space devoted to Urban Terrestrials. Julia Koerner, “Architecture’s Queen of 3D Fabrication” (@Archinect, 2019), between her works “Venus Dress” (2016) and “Cellular Complexity Evolve” (2014) in our current exhibition RESIDENT ALIEN. Based in Salzburg and LA, the award-winning Austrian designer works at the convergence of architecture, product and fashion design. Thanks for visiting us today! _ Her 3D-printed “Venus dress” was inspired by the deep-sea sponge also known as 'Venus flower basket'. Just as the sponge’s woven net-like structure grows based on environmental influences and adapts to its surroundings, the dress is a woven and tessellated matrix generated from a point-cloud, mapped based on characteristics and dimensions of the wearer.
