Not a community of beautiful people in even more beautiful - perfected poses. Rather, imperfect people healing individually. Healing vulnerably together. Because in yoga we make eachother feel safe. We make ourselves feel safe. We are all healing our minds, bodies & spirit together. And this I am eternally grateful for!

I stumbled across this photo from October today. At first I didn’t want to post it because I can extend my leg in flying pigeon now, but then I thought, β€œMorgan, you’re insane. This is a beautiful photo regardless & you don’t have to prove yourself on Instagram by only posting photos that reflect your most current yoga abilities!” Besides, a yoga practice is fluid! Tuesdays are my favorite because I've committed to highlighting one of the many incredible women in my life. . I try to do this as often as possible anyway, but life always seems to get in the way. Besides, I adore scrolling through all of the photos we have taken of memories shared. It's such a fun way to reflect and relive the magic. . This babe and I go all the way back to dorm room college living and skipping out on concerts to stay in and study... Needless to say, we've come a long way out of our shells and in our lives. . We haven't lived in the same city since college but we've never been too far from each other. And more than that, she puts up with my ridiculous requests. From going to back to back workout classes (at ungodly hours of the morning) to traveling across the country to Vegas, she's always comes through. . Day 8 of #upsidedowniscomingtotown is #hollowbody . . . I have incorporated this in my practice, espically with my lower back issues. I tried to keep my shoulders off the ground the whole time. While I did that if my lower back was feeling tight i would bend my knees to help take any pressure off or separate my feet hip width distance apart. . . . In our last post, we clarified what the anatomical action of the pelvic tuck IS (because it's unclear and confusing to many yogis!) To summarize, a pelvic tuck happens when the pelvis rotates posteriorly in the sagittal plane - the tailbone moves forward and the pubic bone lifts up.) . . . Now let's look at what cues in yoga tend to create a pelvic tuck. The cues on this list might all sound different because they reference different bony landmarks, but all of these cues result in the same action: a pelvic tuck. (There are of course more tucking cues out there than this - these are just some of the most common ones): . . . -tailbone down; tailbone forward -scoop the tailbone forward -lift the pubic bone toward the belly button -lift the frontal hip points -lengthen the low back -and more! . . . Because tucking the pelvis has become a bit of an unpopular cue in the yoga world lately, I often hear teachers say "I *never* teach to tuck the pelvis" - but then they use a bunch of these other cues which result in the same action, just using different words. This is a great reminder that it's helpful to understand the anatomy of movement so that we can be clear with our words and cues that we offer. . . .
