#StraightUpPincha is day 2ï¸â£ of #LoveMeSomePincha3. I had a better time finding stable #balance yesterday, writing in #pincha (#ForearmBalance), then I did with straight legs today! Straight-legs can definitely be harder to find balance in than other leg variations. Swipe to see my video of fails.. (I strive to be realistic, instead of just posting the perfect picture that I held for a second.) . .
However, if you go back about eight posts, youâll see an instance where held my straight-legged pincha for a good amount of time. Definitely something Iâm going to work on more, though! #jesikaraepinchaprogress .

What Is Movement?
The way I like to look at is, exercise is optional, movement is essential.
What is the difference? Exercise is a modern invention, an obligation or chore designed to give us a way out, a get out of jail free card that lets us believe three weekly trips to the gym lets us off the hook with our bodies. It is pain, rather than pleasure driven. It is generally focused on specificity and lacking in real skill development. Most exercise regimes use machines and isolated exercises that make us experts in movements that are not practical and are limited, to put it politely.
Movement is something entirely different. Movement is ancient. Movement was here first. Hunting and gathering, dancing round the fire, walking, climbing, running, jumping, crawling, lifting, swimming, fighting...even sex! These are all movements the human body is designed for. A lot of public health research now points towards needing more movement in our lives, as opposed to exercise to remain healthy. For example, no amount of exercise will undo the pathology that is sitting and remaining sedentary. And conversely, you could go your whole life without ever doing exercise but instead move as part of your everyday life and remain healthy. So get out there and move!

Today's healthy habit of a highly effective yogi is getting out into sunshine!
Enjoying the great outdoors, soaking up some vitamin D boosting rays, and being with nature! Added bonus, try going barefoot, connecting with the earth! All wonderful ways to lift your spirits and experience your communion with the natural world around you. But don't forget some zinc sunscreen if you're out for more than a half hour or so.
Black and white, light and dark. The inner work and the outer work go together. We must work on both ourselves and the systems around us.
It's about gun control.
Lack of support.
Problems with education.
Not enough funding.
It's not either/or. It's and/both. I will not sit in my yoga bubble and work on myself without addressing the systems around me.

Love is never perfect. We love and are loved by humans. Our nature isn't perfect, so we hurt, and we make mistakes that cause hurt for others. The most important thing is that we keep trying... We keep coming back. Like waves coming back to the beach, we keep turning to the reasons we love and we keep coming home. It's one of the reasons I live the ocean so much. It heals me. I can watch the live come in and the pain leave the door, and I can feel at home. ððððððð
