2018, whether I was ready for it or not, has humbled me. It probably surprises no one, but I can be a bit prideful at times. And with my latest injury, no matter how independent I try to be, I can’t get through a single day without the help and compassion of my family and friends. Feeling super humble #fbf to when I first decided to join jiujitsu. This is a picture of my gi from @andersonsmartialarts after being diagnosed with epilepsy in 2012 i struggled with anxiety and depression. A friend of mine suggested I'd take a martial class to help me cope. I signed up in 2013 and stood with the school until I started college. I found myself with jiujitsu and learned important skills I needed to learn as a young adult living in NYC. Focus on your strengths!” It’s been 2 years and 10 months since I’ve started on my fitness journey. 2 years and 10 months of constant battles with the negative thoughts and “skinny” envy. I’ve been the skinny girl, but I’ve also been the heavy girl. I’ve had two HEAVY pregnancies. I gained over 60+ lbs each. That means my heaviest body weight breached 200lbs. I’ve never felt the same. I had stretch marks and felt horrible about my body. I know know that I shouldn’t have. I should have LOVED everything my body went through. There was nothing wrong with the way I looked. It was all how I felt. I needed to realize, which I do now, that I was beautiful! So remember you need to focus on your strengths, your beauty, & your power. Meal prep . Personally I am a not a fan of Day long elaborate preps. Being a full time shift worker (12hrs) I want to enjoy my days off and not spend them cooking for the upcoming shifts. I focus on quick recipes that you can put together in a pinch, that are high in protein, nutritionally dense and filling so that I can stay as full as possible. Hunger is high when you’re on your feet all day and there are times where you won’t know when your next break is! I’m also trying to get into the habit of making large portions & freezing half for times when I pick up over time or don’t have time to meal prep so I don’t get tempted to buy from the cafeteria or take out. Last night I made split pea soup & high protein breakfast bowls! My L E A S T favorite workout is dreaded leg day. But holy buckets y'all this may have been my favorite routine yet! I would have never known if I never tried 😉 Day 30/80 and I am proud to say my body is changing. Leaning out, chiseling, and you know what, I am eating M O R E food than I normally would.
