// we actually got kind of sick (flu sick from a guy we met, not stomach sick from anything we ate!!) in udaipur, which super sucks on any vacation, but I was pretty thankful for this amazing view from our hotel room & plenty of chill time to experience & appreciate it. we had two truly epic sunsets: this clearer one, with a fiery sky & stunning colors reflecting on the lake, & another full of clouds & god rays (crepuscular rays) sending good vibes down on the water. together they’ll live in my heart as the dang prettiest. also, with the afternoon light streaming through the window shades, our whole hotel room turned pink. bright, happy, colorful pink.
when we did feel better, we wandered the street, ate hot pakoras as a place that was bustling with locals, warm milk as an evening bevvie also surrounded by locals (the milk seller showed me how to hold the super hot glass without looking silly), & milk/cashew sweets from a busy little treat spot. the food here, you guys, the food. sooo much wonderful food, all over, all the time, so cheap & delicious.
after, we went to the cultural show, around the corner & performed in the courtyard of a grand old house next to the lake, built in the 1500s. we watched ladies in beautiful, bright saris dance traditional Rajasthani dances, their skirts twirling & swirling around their bodies, pots of fire or stacks of more pots than you could count balanced on their heads. such a magical experience & cultural treat.
technically home from India now & wow, what a trip it was. I still have some more photos to share & stories to tell, so I hope you don’t mind me puttering on! 💛
I think we took NY weather back to TN ...it’s been so cold the past few weeks 🙈 water pipes have frozen on and off and then we got some snow this week. Throwback to warmer mornings and better window views.
