🔅Transition into your fast. Whether you are doing a juice or water fast, rather than jumping straight in to it, start small. Start to eliminate sugar, processed foods, and caffeine from your diet at least 2-3 days before your fast, and eat mostly fruits and vegetables. Also consider reducing the size of your meals for several weeks leading up to your fast. This can help prepare your body for what’s to come, and make the transition to water mentally easier. 🔅Drink 1 gallon of spring water a day if you are doing a water fast. Don’t drink all that water at once! Spread out your water consumption throughout the day. 🔅If you are doing a juice fast prepare about a gallon of juice per day and sip on it throughout the day. I usually drink soursop and tamarind juice during my fasting periods and take ginger and keylime shots throughout the day. I also take most of the Dr. Sebi compounds, which I make myself at home. If you’d don’t have the time to make all the compounds I suggest you take some basic herbs such as Irish Sea Moss, Bladderwrack, Burdock Root, Nopal, Elderberry, Yellowdock, Sarsasparilla and Nettle. The herbs will give you energy, and keep you feeling full, they will also provide iron and oxygen to the body. 🔅Combat bouts of hunger. If you get strong hunger pangs, work through it by drinking 1-2 glasses of water. Then lie down and rest. The craving will usually pass. You can also try distracting yourself by reading or meditating.
🔅Break your fast slowly and gradually. Break your fast with soursop, tamarind, apple or watermelon. Then proceed to add foods to your diet gradually. Eat small amounts about every 2 hours, at first. Proceed in a stepwise process from easily digested foods to foods that are harder to digest. Depending on the length of your fast, you can spread this process out over one day or many days. I usually will only have raw foods for a day or two after my fast, then I slowly transition to cooked foods. So if I do a 7 day fast I will have raw foods for two to three days afterward, if it is a one or three day fast, I will only consume raw foods for one day afterward. #alkalinevegannews
