Usually I eat eggs for breakfast 🍳 but today I was craving a smoothie bowl 🍌🍓 so this one happened👌🏻 in the bowl -> banana, mixed berries, 1/4 @thenewbarn cup almond milk, @furtherfood 1 scoop Marine collagen (you can use NUTSFORGUTS10 for a discount at the checkout), @genuinehealth 1 scoop protein powder, 1 tsp adaptogenic blend. Was craving a clean, easy, Whole30 meal. The past few weeks I've thrown my good eating habits out the door and have been indulging in dirty yum yums and lots of delicious drinkies. 'Tis the season, but not really feeling myself 🤢🐷. After these past weeks I've realized more than ever how important clean eating is for me and how my body reacts. My skin looks better, my mood and energy are heightened, and my stress level is down. (Which everything I just listed are currently not doing well)
I feel the good kind of full after meals like this. Now I just need some green tea and a Kombucha and I'll be set.

I did my first #Whole30 in 2010, then followed paleo for about two years and was in the best shape of my liiiife until I got pregnant with Isis and gained an insane amount of weight and just never went back to it. Tried keto, HCLF, vegan, everything. But nothing feels right. So I'm going back to paleo. Getting prepared to start another Whole30 on the 1st. Seems like a good day to start. A verrry late breakfast post staying in bed until 10 am (after staying up way past my bedtime to dance my ass off with a bunch of strangers at someone else’s company holiday party) 🙌🏽. This time last year the mere thought of even being out at a social event like this would have been too much, but add the prospect of drinking two glasses of wine, eating a bit of the catered food and being up late and it would have sent me into a full-blown panic attack. Proud of the progress I’ve made (and am continuing to make) in getting to be a better, less stressed out, healthier and more balanced version of my old self ✨

Needed a break from studying so I made these apple “nachos”!!! 🍎🥜🍫It’s so easy for me to grab junk while I study but these were so easy to make and very filling! Will definitely be making this study snack again! DO IT 👉🏼 Slice an apple into thin slices, lay on plate. Microwave peanut butter (I used chunky natural pb) for 1 minute and drizzle over the apples. Top with a few chocolate chips!! Satisfies my sweets craving so I can (try to) get back to work 🤓📚

These little bundles of joy will be making an appearance at one of our many Christmas gatherings later tonight 🎄. Gatherings involving food can be so difficult if you have diet restrictions, so I like to make something that has a little protein for me and is delicious for everyone else. Bacon Wrapped Brussels with a Dijon Glaze are the perfect treat to share with others.
18 Brussels sprouts, washed and trimmed
9 bacon slices, cut in half
3 tbsp. olive oil
2 tbsp. Dijon mustard
2 tbsp. pure maple syrup or raw honey
1/2 tsp. smoked paprika
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. onion powder
Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
[I doubled the recipe]
Preheat oven to 400 F. Wrap bacon around brussel sprouts. I use a toothpick to hold bacon in place. Place in a baking dish and bake for 30 mins. While baking, combine remaining ingredients. Once the timer has gone off, brush glaze on brussel sprouts and place back in the oven for 5 mins. Serve warm.

My wellness journey is not a straight and smooth highway. Oh, how I wish it was! It probably isn’t for anyone but it often looks like others are on an easy trip to their destination. I step out in the morning and say, “I’m going to eat healthy today” and then the pothole of needing to grab a quick lunch in between appointments becomes a quick sandwich. OK, so I’ll plan better – pack that suitcase. The veggies are in the refrigerator, cut up and ready. Hubby gets a call and needs me to help – we won’t be eating at home tonight – again. OK, this time, I won’t turn onto THAT road – gluten is out. Oops, “I am SOOO in the mood for some of Grandmas famous German pancakes” and I put in extra farm fresh eggs for protein – and to alleviate the gluten guilt and make myself feel better. Sigh. It goes on and on.
The truth is, I hate slowing down long enough to think about what I eat. I just want to live – take that journey – drive hard and fast, throw my hands up in the air and feel the thrill around the crazy curves. Unfortunately, when I do, my car (body) crashes. I’m just not that good a driver. Somehow, I need to slow down and watch the beautiful scenery of life, rest, plan the trip and enjoy the ride. I hope tomorrow is easier.

4 cups unsweetened almond milk , divided use
1 cup dry steel-cut oats
3 large ripe bananas , mashed
6 Tbsp . ground flaxseed

Happy Saturday!! Love this time of year with the parties, baking and good food. Also this time of year I get a little antsy about not feeling guilty about what I eat. Last night had my my coworkers Christmas party and had maybe way too much fun!! I enjoyed the food and treats and didn’t think about the calories once.
