“The strongest impression I was left with after spending the day seeing the Quilt was a feeling of love. Not perfect love, but human love with all its imperfections. We cannot escape grief. We cannot avoid the pain, suffering and anger that we feel because of the deaths of those we know and for whom we care. But we can give thanks for their lives and live our lives as fully and as richly as possible with patience, gentleness and love. That is what the AIDS Quilt expresses. These people were loved." #weremember#legacy#memorial#grief#healing#love#aidsmemorialquilt
On this day a year ago our hearts broke at the news of Keith Lamont Scott's encounter with police. Today we continue to pray for the families involved and the city of Charlotte. Let us never forget that the difficult conversations must continue and the work of reconciling the world to Christ and each other must carry on. As we look back at #theONEproject where Nikao & several churches came together in response to the pain, tragedy, and anger may we continue to each strive to be the light of God that shines brighter than the darkness, and may His love through us continue to drive out hate in others. #keithlamontscott#weremember#notanotherhashtag#LordHealOurHearts#LordHealOurLand
This is what War looks like.
Seeing a Brother carried onto a Medivac from a gun turret. Watching helplessly and the feeling of rage beyond words.
I took this video on July 12th outside of PB Wishtan. This is the Helo coming into pick up Greniger. This was the second pass the first one they missed the Lz and had to circle around.
Before this we were doing Bulldozer security when we got the call over the radio.
I was in the gun turret with Laurita driving and Hichos as A Driver. We were just fucking around as the dozer did its thing, and not even few blocks away 1st squad was conducting a foot patrol.
Mid afternoon we got the call, when we got on scene, they loaded Greniger onto the truck directly in front of us. What I saw will never leave my mind along with numerous other memories.
We got back to the PB, I was stuck out on the street in the gun turret while they worked on him from inside the compound. I couldn't of done anything then anyway. I'd already failed him that point. All I could do was sit in the turret. After they landed and loaded him up they were gone, and shortly after that so was he. We didn't get the news till later.
We went back into the PB regrouped to go back out and do the BDA. I remember getting out of the truck squatting to my knees against a hesco barrier and just breaking down.
Seeing a friend and brother in that state just brings you to a point of helplessness and feeling at fault.
It was an everyday thought, thinking "will today be the day". I wish I hadn't of been in that turret, wish I would of been in front with him and maybe things could of been different. Maybe he'd be the one home now. #marine#usmc#combat#veteran#grunt#doghandler#tattoo#tattoos#bro#brother #brother #HonorTheFallen#WeRemember#XVIICarvings#sangin
As your consciousness becomes more aligned with the dark side of the moon, you will know gratitude for this awesome opportunity to sink so deeply into the quiet stillness of your inherent nature. You will become more perceptively attuned to the impersonal female ocean beyond fertility, beyond menstruation, beyond death, beyond fear. If you fully embrace this important transition everything you say and do will be graced with wisdom and inspired by truth. You will inwardly die and rebirth. You will settle into a new place of being. You will become the mystery of the Muse and the power of the Crone. You will know true freedom. You will know All. ~Susan Weed
