My name is Whitney and I'm currently 19 years old. At age 15 I was only 130 pounds when I mysteriously started gaining weight. It took 4 years to diagnose me but March 18th I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. At my all time highest weight I thought I'd be like this forever. Luckily once I started 75 MCG of Levothyroxine my life began to change. The inflammation went down in my body and I began to no longer gain weight. I changed my lifestyle by getting more sleep, staying away from gluten, drinking at least a gallon of water a day, and using Youtube for my and at home because I'm a full time college student and a gym is far too expensive for me at the moment! My health is looking up but I'm not out of the woods yet because I'm currently being monitored for stage 1 thyroid cancer. I just wanted to let people know that your diagnosis is not your identity and you can move mountains if you believe you can! My road has not been easy but I'm thankful for it because it's made me who I am today. The picture I am providing is a 5 month difference with about 45 lbs lost. 🔱To carry on from my previous post on "Why your diet is failing you", here are my 3 tips that will help you to be consistent and stick to you weight loss goals! - 1️⃣Take each week as it comes - 📕If you plan to diet for the next 12 weeks for example instead of thinking of how long it is going to be (oh 💩 12 freaking weeks! 😱) and the amount of work that you will need to take try to take each week at a time ("Less food for me", "More cardio sessions", " More training sessions" - I bet all these thoughts will come into your mind at some point). Try to just focus only on the next 7 days ahead instead; this will prevent you from feeling overwhelmed. Too many people quit half way because they "freak" themselves out on how long this will take. - 2️⃣Adopt a sustainable diet - 📓If you read my stuff, you probably know that I am a huge proponent of "flexible dieting" and having tried all sorts of diets myself I would say that "flexible dieting" is the best one out there! Its easy to comply with and you don`t have to restrict yourself to any kind of "foods" . All you need to be is within your set caloric range and to be hitting your macronutrients. Crash dieting methods (starving yourself, skipping meals) are only going to work for a very short frame of time and will not be sustainable to your goals. - 3️⃣Chill out and stop being so hard on yourself - 🔗Accept the fact that not everyday is going to be a day whereby you will able workout or hit your caloric consumption perfectly. This is where people struggle as they can be doing well for 2-3 weeks for example and all of sudden once life happens (i.e they fall sick, they become busy, they overate at party), they start to feel bad and feel that they have let themselves down (due to skipping workouts or having over ate) and because this happens they forgot and forgo all the work they have put in and tell themselves "@&$ it! My advice is take it easy and if you screw up, acknowledge it, learn from it and start a fresh!
