Left 2010 - 135lbs
Right 2017 - 245lbs
I’m excited for the right picture to be a “before” 😁
I used to be 135 lbs
Over the last 7 years I gained 110 lbs whoops 🤷🏻♀️
In October 2016 I had gotten down to 172- my lowest in years and then I changed jobs and got in a relationship and gained 70lbs 🤷🏻♀️ Getting over 240 was a huge eye opener- I knew that if I didn’t do something drastic, it would not be the highest weight and I would have detrimental health issues throughout my life🤢
So last fall I decided to look into weight loss surgery, specifically the vertical sleeve🔪
Since I didn’t have any co-morbidities my insurance wouldn’t cover it and it was going to cost me $17000😐
I started looking into alternatives- Mexico 🇲🇽 My surgeon was Dr Ramos Kelly in Tijuana, MX and it cost less than 1/3 of what I would’ve paid in the states 🤑
I started this IG to stay accountable and maybe help someone that was in my shoes a few months back.
Going to Mexico was the best choice I’ve made in a long time and I’d do it over again in a heart beat.

This is a hard one to post. On the left I had already lost 15 pounds and was eager to try on shorts I was never brave enough to wear outside the house.
Yep, I bought a pair of shorts and I never even wore them. I used to do almost anything to avoid wearing shorts in general, one Recruitment we HAD to wear shorts and I cried bc I was so so uncomfortable.
Yesterday, I bought my first pair of shorts that I intend on wearing outside. I would love to say that I won’t be terribly self-conscious the entire time and that I won’t wonder if people are staring at me bc I shouldn’t be wearing them. - -
I wish the weight dropped all the insecurity, but it didn’t. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely am more confident but losing 90 pounds is like losing another person and I’m still working on loving myself and the body I’ve created and fought so hard for.
Losing weight will not solve all your problems or fix the way you feel about yourself. How you feel about yourself can not come from anyone or anything besides a conscious decision from yourself to do it. It is something I’m working on every single day.
I was having a really tough body image day and one do my best friends said something to me that really hit home. She pointed out that being healthy and being grateful for the progress I have made is so much more important than the ideal “perfection” I’ve been chasing.
So today, I stop being a brat and start being grateful. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

1 minute mug brownie, it was necessary this evening. I know better than to make a whole box of brownies and I only wanted one because I was craving chocolate but chocolate pudding mixed with Greek yogurt just wasn’t going to cut it today 😝 this is easy and decadent, it tastes like fatty chocolate cake and is just enough to take care of that deep down in your soul chocolate craving 😊 mix 1/4 cup (or 35g) of boxed brownie mix with 1/8 cup water and nuke for 30 seconds. Check it and if it’s still a little watery, nuke on half power for another 20 seconds. As soon as you take it out add 1 tsp of chocolate chips for some melty chocolate loveliness 🤩 6sp (5 w/out the chips on top)
One last indulgence for the day. This losing weight thing is hard. This anxiety thing is hard. This fighting depression is hard.

I can’t pressure myself the way I used to. All I can do is wake up each day and try to do my best. For the last little bit I haven’t had it in me to do any more than that and I had some poor food choices and some not-so-great days. But that’s okay. I’m okay. One day I am going to reach my goals but it’s not a race. For right now, I am gonna enjoy this popcorn 🍿 and a movie night in and tomorrow I am going to yoga and trying to do my best and count points and make good choices. #ImNotPerfect#ThatsOkay ✨💛

I am currently having some PF Chiang’s Orange Chicken because I was craving some fake Chinese food. It is great because I know I am not going get fat from it and it tastes delicious.
How do I know I am not going to get fat? Because I track what I eat and also, I am not eating this every single meal. Additionally, I know if I stay under a specific amount of calories, I will gain weight.
Some of you may think I can get away with eating sugary, fatty junk foods is because I am already fit and I exercise. To a certain extent, yes, but actually, anybody can “get away” with eating junk food if you learn have the understanding of what the limits are.
Most people are actually doing more harm to themselves by being extremely restrictive with themselves. I have been there. Steamed vegetables, grilled skinless chicken breast, and plain brown rice for every meal. Low fat, “complex” carbs, and lean protein. If you were to tell me that is the only way to get lean today, I will call bullshit. I got to my leanest while eating M&M’s chocolate every day. I lost 17 pounds last year eating whatever food I was craving on a weekly basis. You DO NOT NEED to be eating plain foods every meal to get to a leaner self. You will, like I have, end up binging during the weekend till your stomach hurts and then gain all your weight back plus some.
Learning to master this is the secret to having a lifestyle change. Understand the principles of macronutrients and calories and you will have the best foundation to achieve your goals.

It took me forever to decide to post a “before” picture because I hated how I looked and was honestly embarrassed. But when I put it side by side to a picture I took today I realized how far I’ve come and felt way too proud not to post. 1/8/18 was the first day of my journey. This is a 6 week difference, 11 lbs down. I can’t wait for the 6 month picture 🙌🏼
