Eating healthy foods can help you lose weight — but it has nothing to do with eating healthier and everything to do with what happens when you start consuming more whole & nutritious foods. - To lose weight, you NEED to be in a calorie deficit. - So if someone swaps their usual cheeseburgers and fries 🍔🍟 (which have lots of calories) for the same amount of chicken breast and broccoli 🐔🌳 (which has fewer calories), no wonder they lose weight! They end up consuming fewer calories without even trying! – There are a lot of reasons why it’s easier to take in fewer calories eating healthy food.... - ✔️ MORE food volume per calorie ✔️ MORE protein (typically) ✔️ MORE Fiber ✔️ MORE Micronutrients (vitamins & minerals) –  1️⃣ If you’re struggling to eat in a deficit because you’re always feeling hungry or tired 😰, eating more whole foods will help by increasing how much food you’re eating and ensuring you’re getting plenty of vitamins and minerals. - 2️⃣ If you’re struggling to eat whole foods because you’re craving “less healthy” foods like chocolate 🍫 & ice cream 🍨, realize that you CAN have those foods! You just need to be controlling your total calories, and because they’re calorically dense, the trade-off is you might have to deal with a bit more physical hunger... –  What I typically see is folks can get away with eating fewer whole foods at the beginning of their diet. 🔥WEIGHT LOSS Vs. FAT LOSS🔥 - 🦄I made this #infographic because the terms “weight loss” and “fat loss” are used in the same sense all too often and I wanted to clear a few things up. - 🤖The weight you see on the scale over the long term may be a good indicator of progress and FAT LOSS, however, in the short term it can go up and down just as quick as the stock market and this does not necessarily mean you are losing or gaining fat. - 🙊As the graphic suggests, it is VERY easy to lose WEIGHT. It can be as simple as going to the toilet for a big 💩, fasting for a day or jumping into a sauna and sweating. In all of these situations you will almost always see a drop on the scale and I can guarantee you there was little to NO fat loss happening in any of them. - ⚖️Only focusing on the weight you see on the scale will almost always see you fail on your FAT loss journey. Why? You could have been absolutely “perfect” with your food and exercise all week and see no change on the scale and you will feel disappointed. - ☘️If your goal is actual FAT loss, make sure you focus on hitting your daily calorie and protein numbers, move frequently (try to include strength training 2-3 times a week) and be patient. - 🏓FAT loss is not a sprint, it’s a marathon and just like a marathon you will have ups and downs through out your journey. I can't actually remember the last time I had cereal for breakfast! Well, brunch, cause I don't eat breakfast. I don't eat before 11am. I've been having some issues with over snacking at night the past couple nights and I need to get that in check. The #1 was I can do that is PUT AWAY the Costco sized bags of snacks. I've had the crackers and li hing mango bags sitting right next to the couch which is hands down the worst place for them to be. Pro tip- the harder a food is to get to, the less likely you are yo choose it! Also the less visible it is. So put your most tempting snacks AWAY on a HIGH or LOW shelf, behind something healthier. If that's not enough, put it inside another container. Even just having to open 2 bags to eat it instead of 1 can reduce how much you eat. Super awesome post from my bud @chadhargrove1 - Chad explained this very well so I'll let him take for here 👇 - Know what I want this post to do? - If this post could make you think twice about any fad diet or any diet that eliminates food groups or suggests you can’t have a certain food. I want you to get passed that stuff for good — unless you have a very specific medical reason to avoid. But for losing fat or building muscle? Start ignoring that stuff. - You have to match what you need with what needs to be done. - Many come to me and say they like how I make it simple so nutrition is more approachable. - Let’s think about that for a second — the more confusing we’ve made food, the worse it’s gotten. The more we seem to “know”, the more people have confused it. And the more out of shape we get. 🤷🏻‍♂️ - I’m not suggesting we go back to the Stone Age, but when it comes to being overweight, no one was back then. And in time, you were considered rich if you were the fat one. - Build your meals around getting your vegetables and protein in. Some (or maybe all) of your protein can come from some of those carb sources like black beans. Do some research and learn about food, it’s worth it. - Fruits are great to snack on and you should try and get 2-3 per day. - Fats are nice to add to meals for taste and texture. Oils, avocados, nuts and seeds go great as a supplement to meals to add nutrients. The more plant based you go, the more focus you’ll need here. - And the stuff you want? Again, good luck completely getting rid of the birthday cake, your sweet tooth or the fact you like to have a few drinks. 💥💥FAT LOSS APPROVED DRINKS!!!!💥💥 - 😅My friends, there’s a lot to be said about sugarated drinks and fat loss. Can you drink one glass of coke every day and still lose fat? Sure you can. Is it advisable? Nah, I’d rather use those empty calories for something else. For real food. - 👉You see, liquid calories add up quickly. INSANELY QUICKLY. You want one glass of coke? 150 calories. But heck, who only drinks one glass of coke? Oh there are 500 calories. - I say, if fat loss is your goal you’d better give up EVERY single liquid calorie other than protein shakes. - Can you swap them for diet coke or a monster ultra? Yes, you can! But I’d rather not include those into this graphic because the internet keyboard warriors will wish me luck with heart attacks and cancer, I’d rather avoid comments like that if you know what I mean…. - Just don’t abuse them, that won’t be good for your overall health. But one or maybe two a day? That won’t kill you. We as of now, just don’t know the long term consequences yet. Just be careful with them. - At the end of the day it’s always better to get in the habit of NEVER drinking any liquid calories anymore, other than protein of course. I legitimately think cutting out ALL liquid calories should be the first step when you’re trying to lose fat. Still consuming some liquid calories? CUT EM OUT!!!!! - Seriously though, it’s a waste of precious daily calories and you know you’d rather spend those calories wisely and eat some real food. - ✌️I hope this post was helpful my friend and of course, as per usual. Bringing back one of my all-time favorite calorie comparison posts to serve as a reminder for all to hear 👂... - When it comes to losing weight, food QUANTITY trumps food QUALITY. You can eat 100% “healthy” foods all day long and struggle to lose weight if you’re eating too many calories. - But let me explain... - Just because food quantity (aka calories & portions) matters most for weight loss, it doesn’t mean food quality (aka vitamins & minerals) is irrelevant. Losing and maintaining a healthy body weight is one part of being healthy, but so is ensuring you’re strong plenty of nutrient-dense foods full of fiber & micronutrients 🍎🥗 - So, what does all this mean? - It means you need to find a balance that works for YOU. - The majority of your food choices come from micronutrient-dense whole foods. 🏋🏻‍♀️ Planet Fitness Circuit Workout 🏋🏻‍♀️ ⠀⠀ 💁🏻‍♀️ If you’re a member of Planet Fitness, then this workout is for YOU! ⠀⠀ And yes, don’t worry! You could absolutely do this workout at ANY gym if you wanted to, I just completed it at Planet Fitness today and thought I would share. 💃🏻 ⠀⠀ 👯‍♀️ Before we dive in, tag a friend you like to workout with in the comments below! 👯‍♀️ ⠀⠀ 🧘🏻‍♀️ Ok, so for this workout we are going to start off with a nice, active warm up. This is something I highly encourage you to do during any workout, too! ⠀⠀ For this warmup, you’ll complete each exercise sequentially with 0 to 20 seconds rest between exercises. Once you’ve made it all the way through the warm up, you can rest 60 seconds and then start Circuit 1, or you can complete the warm up once more if you’re extra tight. ⠀⠀ 1️⃣ Circuit 1 ⠀⠀ This circuit is very difficult! It’ll get your heart rate up and your brow sweating! I’d encourage you to have a bottle of water nearby lol. ⠀⠀ 2️⃣ Circuit 2 ⠀⠀ On this circuit, you’re not going to be moving around as much, though you’ll really need to focus on proper form and a mind-muscle connection to get the most out of it. Slow and controlled reps are key. ⠀⠀ 3️⃣ Circuit 3 ⠀⠀ We’ll finish off with one last circuit that targets your lats, chest/triceps and your core. #RecipeOfTheWeek: Stir-Fry Chicken, Green Beans and Red Pepper Serves 2 Ingredients: 2  Chicken Breasts. Diced 250 g  Green Beans, pre-boiled 3 to 4 minutes 2  Red Peppers, sliced - Salt and Pepper 4 tbsp. Ideal Protein Sesame dressing 2 tbsp. Grape seed Oil Directions 1.Heat up the pan/wok and oil 2.Fry the chicken until cooked thoroughly 3.Add green beans and red pepper.  Fry for 4 – 5 minutes. Add Sesame dressing 4.Season with salt and pepper Ready to Serve!!
