Okay I’m feeling a transformation comparison day. 2016, 2017, and Now! I see a big difference in all. It’s all about learning about yourself and making a change. The first picture I was around 240-245 Now I’m around a 185-190. I haven’t looked at the scale exactly in a couple weeks. It’s about how you feel not what the number says on the scale. Pushing to succeed and never giving up. Glad those arms are looking a little toned though. Hard work pays off when you give 110%. My advice to anyone just starting out go for your dream body and don’t look back.. take it in small steps. And do not weigh yourself daily. YOGA TIP! 👉🏼 Today I want to show you some of the biggest form mistakes and problems I see when people practice Warrior 1 (Virabhadrasana I) 💘 In the before photo there are a few big issues here that could cause serious injury and hurt your practice: 1️⃣ The most common alignment mistake in Warrior 1 are the feet placement! In the before photo my back foot is totally turned out to the side. In Warrior 1 you want a heel to heel alignment, meaning your front heel should intersect with your back heel. Your back foot should be turned in at a 45 to 60 degree angle! This foot placement will enable you to square your pelvis as much as possible with the front edge of your mat. 💕 2️⃣ My back leg is not engaged and my front knee is over my front toe! 🙅🏼‍♀️ Firm up your back leg by rooting down through the back edge of your back foot and engage your thigh upward! Make sure your front knee is in line with your front ankle to avoid long term knee stress injuries. 3️⃣ I am arching through my low back and crunching my upper body! Too often I see people arching their back causing them to sink into the front leg. You want to keep a neutral spine in Warrior 1. Create a heavy tail bone, lift your frontal hip points towards your rib cage and engage your core! Almost envision knitting your front side together. Additionally, shoulders should be relaxed and chest pulled through. Gaze should always be forward with a neutral spine until you have perfected your form, then you can reach the palms together and gaze up! 💘 👉🏼 Want some modifications to work your way to the "After" photo? You know what I actually absolutely hate? People ALWAYS told me I was fat. And I believed them. I thought “I am fat, I always have been and I always will be.” Looking back, I wasn’t fat. I just wasn’t skinny. I wish I had known when I was younger, that if I would have kept my weight and worked on not gaining any, I probably would be skinny now. I did not know. Nobody told me. Everyone just kept repeating that I was fat. Look at this picture I took when I was about 15 years old. I felt fat because everyone told me so. Man I would give a lot to have that body. So it’s been 1 week since I started my low carb diet, whole foods and supplements. The difference in how I feel is astounding. The weight loss is likely mostly water weight and it is also relative. For example, 132.9lbs is an excellent weight for someone with a lot of lean muscle and very healthy - but for me, I started with a 33% body fat composition which is not ideal at all for my height and weight combination so I know some fat has to go. I knew I needed a change. But keep in mind when muscle is added on (next phase) the scale can rise again, so it’s more about inches lost, how your clothes fit and how you feel that’s most important! . . All of this was done simply by eating better, intermittent fasting, increasing my water intake and supplements. My most noticeable change is in my stomach - the saying “abs are made in the kitchen” is right! I have NOT done any exercise routine yet (I was waiting for the side effects of sugar withdrawal to subside and for my schedule to open up) and yet I already see results. It’s because we truly are what we eat, and knocking out processed junk as well as refined sugars has made a world of difference! I will keep you all posted on my progress, tips for success and let you all know what I am doing for exercise.
