Meet the C.A.R.E crew! 🚦🚥🤗Each week we want to take the time to introduce the lovely ladies promoting C.A.R.E on campus! Lauren Frost is a senior care leader this year and brings a wealth of knowledge, and her contagious smile and personality to the group:)! Here are 4 questions we asked Lauren: Biggest misconceptions on consent:
Consent doesn’t have to look the same for everyone, in every case. Not everyone communicates verbally, and the same words don’t mean the same thing to everyone. Keep checking in, asking, answering, and respecting each other’s wants and needs. Communication is sexy. I promise.
Who are you?
I am a third year student at UVic pursuing a double major in Theatre and Gender Studies. Hobbies include consuming oversized baked goods, making awful puns, and smashing the patriarchy.
What makes you unique?
I literally have a phobia of ketchup. It’s a real thing. Apparently it’s called “mortuusequusphobia.”
Describe your student life in three words:
Always studying sex. #familiarfaces#consentmatters#uviccares#letsgetconsensual#carecrew#uviclife 🍁🍂
@anti.violence.project is UVic’s on-campus sexual assault centre, and is one of the few resources to offer confidential and anonymous support to survivors, individuals supporting survivors, and individuals who have caused harm.
On November 8th, a referendum will take place, seeking a $2 student fee increase per term for full-time students and a $1 increase per term for part-time students so that AVP can continue their work and expand resource access.
The purpose of UVic’s CARE leadership program is to promote consent culture and healthy relationships on campus, and we recognize the impact that this fee increase would have on campus-wide awareness and support access.
Please vote on November 8th! https://webvote.uvic.ca/
