#Glute morning! Work these out to activate your glutes before hitting the weights. I like to do these as Part 2 activation after doing all types of floor bridges, fire hydrants, & quadruped booty kicks 😉 Red band gives about 10 lbs. Of #resistance. Go heavier or lighter as needed. Do 6- 10 rounds of each. 1. Narrow to wide squats. Bounce narrow in the middle, squat wider right. Bounce narrow in the middle, squat wider left. That's 1 round. Bounce with it, bounce with it. 💃🏽💃🏽 2. Squat touchdowns - squat down, power up & tap toes narrow, land in a squat and touchdown if you can. Do not bend over to touch the ground... you'll be using your lower back, not your glutes. If you can't get low enough in your squat, keep working it- dont force it ; 3. Squat walk with pulse out- walk to right twice.. keep legs wide, pulse both knees out for 4 counts. Walk to left twice, repeat the pulse. Thats 1 round. 4. Squat up & down with abduction. 2008 vs. today 💁🏻 I’ve always been super active and fit growing up. Soccer everyday sometimes twice a day, horseback riding, swimming, skiing, tennis, golf, and even dabbled with weights in high school. When I was 16, I was diagnosed with #hypertrophiccardiomyopathy. Right after my 17th bday, I had surgery to get an implantable cardioverter defibrillator. My soccer scholarship was no more. All I knew was my sports, and when I couldn’t play soccer anymore, I was devastated. I was never diagnosed, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I was categorized as depressed. I ate how I normally ate as if I was still playing soccer, and I gained weight starting my senior year of high school and into college. Oh and I️ had a stress fracture in my tibia which also did not help. And I took advantage of partying in my college years, so lots of empty calories were taken in (sorry Mom😬). I never knew how much I gained, but the picture on the left is from that time. I started lifting weights more often in college, eating slightly better, and got into running. I majored in Exercise and Sport Science, gained a ton of knowledge about the human body, and made it applicable to my own life. I graduated with my BS, and started working as a personal trainer. I gained tons of knowledge from my coworkers, reading, and seeing what worked for myself as well as my clients. I finally got to where I am now by lifting weights 4 days a week (with leg/upper pull and core/upper push splits), HIIT 1-2 a week, eating mostly whole foods and occasionally 🌮🍦🥞🍕🍔🥂 and making sure I eat my protein. Been doing this consistently (with the exception of a 5 month traveling hiatus) for about 6 or 7 years now. It’s been a process, but I’m glad I consistently stuck with it and I didn’t let my slightly unfortunate surgery keep me from living my life under my terms.
