Let’s talk numbers and confidence.
The photo on the far left: I look hot and I feel good, but I’m a size 4 and am covering my stomach. I was in the Bahamas and having the time of my life, but I still was so nervous about “being myself”.
The photo in the middle: I was covered up as much as I could be in the Summer at one of our favorite things: a Durham Bulls Game! We had a ton of fun, but I was still so uncomfortable and was a size 14.
The Final Photo: this is almost a year after committing myself to a better me! I’m half the size I was when I first started and even though I’m still not the size I want to be, my body is transforming and I love it! I’m a size 8 and although I’m not where I want to be, my stomach is more toned and flat than it was over a year ago! I was eating salads and running 3 miles and nothing was changing. Switching to at-home workouts, portion control, and plant-based shakes has changed my life!

💥Squat Prep 💥
One of the things I have been utilizing in my squat prep is something I learned from @dr.matt.rice , which is the “sit and pry” goblet squat, introduced by Dan John.
From this position, the elbows help drive the knees outwards, and allows you to literally “sit and pry,” at the bottom of the squat.
The objective is to create more space for yourself in the bottom of the squat.
Let’s paint an example in the mind. Envision someone descending into the bottom of a squat. In this, if the hips run out of room, the low back may try to make up for that last little bit of depth you’re trying to achieve by flexing the spine forward. If this happens, this could lead to pain in the low back, and mid back as well.
In addition, let’s say the hips run out of room, and the pelvis then tips backwards (this is the commonly termed “butt wink”), which also causes the spine to flex right where the spine meets the sacrum, (commonly referred to as L5-S1), this also can be a leading cause of pain and discomfort.
This is always included in my squat prep, in addition to other components.

Happy Sunday everyone!
Thankful I’m here to continue my journey. My life truly changed in an instant! I’m still not the person I was before my concussion. Don’t take life for granted. Start doing those things you’ve dreamt about. Plan ways to achieve your goals. Excel where you want to succeed. Move forward everyday! Don’t give yourself a reason to say I wish I would have made time to...fill in the blank here. If you want it, work for it. Remain thankful.
🎇 STRONG SUNDAY 🎇

✴️ GUIDE OF THE WEEK ✴️
Aaron Garcia has been heading up the HPW team for the past 4 years. His drive, passion, humbleness, and out-of-the-box thinking sets him apart. Aaron eats, sleeps, and breathes High Plains Wingshooters and strives to make HPW the best it can be while creating friendships and memories that last a lifetime.
When Aaron is not guiding, he is roping the dummy in our front yard, riding/roping on his horses, and watching the PBR or anything rodeo related. He enjoys playing softball in the summer and attending Rockies games. Aaron loves spending time with his animals as well as family and friends.
Thank you Aaron for all of your hard work and dedication to this HPW family. We appreciate you.
❤ Jenn "Aaron takes great pride in trying to make sure everyone has a great hunt and experience. He is always thinking of others first and enjoys watching others be successful in the field. Thanks for all that you do for us at HPW Aaron!" -Robb "Aaron always goes above and beyond for the guys that work for him. When you guys became owners of High Plains Wingshooters, the transition between 'bosses' couldn't have been easier for the guides. That says alot." - Matt "Even though I can't get the guy to smile in a photo to save my life, Aaron has a huge heart, a tremendous passion for the sport of waterfowl, and an inspiring relationship with his family and wife that super cool to watch. Thanks for everything buddy." -Jeremiah "Thank you Aaron for giving me the opportunity to guide for hpw this year. You have been a great mentor and it's been an absolute pleasure working with you and for you this year." -Zach "Aaron is the most humble and honest person I know. He is like family to me and I wouldn't be where I am if not for him." -Cliff
