// SPRINTS // Being bi pedal-(walk up right on two legs) hunters (eyes on front of head with 2 sets of K9 teeth) means we were designed to sprint towards something we were hunting or more than likely away from predators 🐆🐅chasing us. Obviously we have no worries of this anymore, but sprinting is a great metabolic conditioning tool, and it's fun! #sprintintervals#sprints#byronbay#holisticfitnessbyronbay#huntergatherer
After reading an article on @runnersworldmag about sprint interval training, I thought maybe I should incorporate something like that into my short-run training days. So I did. I have to admit, there’s something about running that fast that gives me a little anxiety. I think it’s partly because there’s less reaction time when you have to navigate around obstacles like potholes or a pile of gum balls (the bane of my existence as a runner). I’m proud of myself for giving it a try and I’m definitely going to be doing more of these. #runstreak#day172#sprintintervals#sprintintervaltraining#10ktraining
Rocking out to #SIA while I do my therapy, aka #workout#shoulderday and #sprintintervals -
I’ve struggled with #anxiety off and on for many many years. I’ve done therapy with 2 different therapists for long periods of time on four separate stretches. I’ve taken 2 different medications at different periods of my life. In college for awhile, after the birth of my oldest daughter and then again as I was going through all the events that led up to my divorce and through the year that followed.
Since then I’ve learned other means to help manage the ebb and flow of my anxiety. Exercise is therapy for me. It helps me focus and drown out everything else. Gives me something to work my body hard for and tires me out (in a good way).
For *awhile* now I’ve been struggling with my usual means of coping not being enough. Obsessive and ruminating negative thoughts, mostly directed towards myself. Unable to turn it off or challenge it enough to quiet the intensity. Crying spells. Irritability. Sadness.
Made the leap to start back into therapy. There’s so much I went through prior to my divorce, and since my divorce, so many insecurities, abandonment issues and SO much grief- all of it that I’ve never really processed outside my own mind (and my own mind is not always truthful, or nice).
It’s scary but if you’re ever struggling - just know if you can find the courage to reach out there are ways to get help and support. #mentalhealthissues#helpisoutthere#therapyworks#medicationscanhelptoo
Gosh I love #carbcycling ! Keeps things interesting. I KNOW I could never do #highfatlowcarb 365...but I LOVE it a few strategic fat-burning days a week!😍
Today I essentially made my Super Bowl chicken lettuce wraps with chunky guac....minus the lettuce.🥑 Let’s face it, guac is really what matters here 😂
Do you carb cycle?
Tomorrow will be my Rest Day so I wanted to really make today about HIIT Cardio (High Intensity Interval Training) to increase my fat burning. I completed Day 20 Cardio Flow with my group this morning - 30 minutes, then ran down to the gym for a 20 minute Sprint Interval Workout. I paced the treadmill at 10.5 speed; sprinted 30 seconds followed by hip hinges (deadlifts) and did 8 rounds.
I like deadlifts because it’s a good focus on hamstrings and glutes, lower back muscles, and core. It's a compound movement. You want to make sure you hinge at the hips and push your butt behind you keeping you back straight and squeeze your bum at the top 🍑 this lifts your tush and gives your legs that shapely defined look 🔥 my cute husband @battleborn67 was my camera guy.... I was trying not to laugh 😆
