New kid on the block: meet Winter. Leah’s first son, born at 3am on a sub-zero night. Strong, healthy and with wonderful patterns crowning his head. It was also my first birth, a moment I will never forget. Leah is a wild goat, we could never catch, touch or stroke. But through my assistance with the birth, she has developed a trust in me, this understanding that I was there to help and has become tame. She now lets me sit, stroking her and playing with Winter. As I was watching her clean and tend to him having just given birth, she came over and licked my forehead in recognition of my support. Incredibly humbling. Hope you all got a chance to see it in my story (the circular portrait icon), in case you didn’t I’ve highlighted it which you’ll find at the top of my page.
