A great day spent teaching the community self defense with “NOT ME Women’s Assault Prevention Training”. “We will teach some simple, yet highly effective defense moves that you can use to escape regardless of age, size or fitness level. During the class we will discuss the who, what, when, where and how assaults happen. We will also discuss the sequence of events prior to and during an attack, as well as tactics predators use to look for victims. We also discuss what to do when a weapon is involved, as well as precautions around cars and when traveling. We will also teach about the use of safety tools and how to stack the odds in your favor.” #crossfit#c1athletics#crossfitstcroix#hudsonwi#community#fitness#confidence#selfdefense#safety
SCOUTING REPORT(Derwin James)📈
- There is no doubt that James is a freak athlete. He is a very fast defender who flies around the football field, demonstrating good instincts with tremendous closing speed. On top of being very fast, James is a big safety with height and strength. He will dish out some bone-rattling hits and is a good tackler on running backs in space. James has the height, length, and leaping ability to match up on wide receivers or tight ends downfield. For the NFL, I think James has Pro Bowl potential as a versatile safety who can do a lot things and erase mismatches. James combine workout should rise is stock, projected to be picking on the top 15. #nfl#nflt #nfl #derwinjames#fsu#edits#seminoles#may#safety#probowl#top10#bighitter
still haunted by 45’s words from last week about people with mental illness and mental institutions. this is sanism and ableism at some of their most chilling. this is not only about “folks with mental illness.” we all have a dog in this fight. this fight of who is presumed “dangerous,” “criminal,” “out of control,” “crazy,” “disposable,” “mentally ill.” this fight in who is presumed “safe,” “innocent,” “valuable,” “sane,” “mentally fit.” this fight of who gets locked up, whether it’s in prisons, mental institutions, psych wards, ICE facilities, detention centers, group homes, jails, solitary confinement, or our own damn homes. we must fight sanism and ableism whenever and wherever they rear their insidious chameleon heads. they impact all of our communities and have played a role in virtually every form of violence and oppression. as the national fight over gun control rages on, sanism/ableism will continue to be front and center, though they may *seem* like they are not because of the deep, oppressive and dangerous societal norms that exist about them—this is precisely why they are some of the hardest things to address because they seem so “fish in water.” and we must remember that it is not only coming from “the other side,” it comes from “our side” too. in our moves toward freedom, we cannot reinforce our chains. 🌿🌿🌿
[collection of tweets about gun control, safety and mental illness reacting to 45’s statement: "Years ago, we had mental hospitals, institutions...& a lot of them have closed. Some people thought it was a stigma...today, if you catch somebody, they don't know what to do with him. He hasn't committed the crime, but he may very well & there's no mental institution." due to the word limit on IG, it won’t let me post them all. 😒)

You think we should lie on our backs and let the government do what it wants? There are 70 million gun owners in America. 70 million is enough to stop an army of one million, and most of the soldiers would refuse to fire on their own people to begin with. Soldiers are human too, they're your brother and uncle and neighbor and your old friend from school. They're not robots that blindly obey, they have their own opinions, and the average soldier would defect rather than murder an American for resisting the government. Also, look at Afghanistan and Vietnam. Some people love to project their cowardice.
Nice misleading comparison though.
