💥The calm before the storm. ⚡️⚡️ I sat at the community center (before the start of AC100) and chatted with friends not knowing if I would be able to accomplish what I set out to do, and that was to run 100 miles. This is what before 100 miles looks like, I was happy, nervous and excited all at the same time. My brother @eltalpaul and my girl @amylmck reassured me that I was ready for it and they would do anything they can to make sure I finish 🙏 I’m thinking about running another 100 miler late in the fall. Now with yesterday’s registration I finally completed my 2018 race calendar! There’s some good stuff here such as TWO(!) marathons (Majors) and my first run in a National Park. It’s a lot to absorb, a lot of intelligent training to do to avoid injury, lots of trusting the process and lots of overcoming (physical, emotional) to be proud. @cmt@cmteam and @san@sanpalma will be key in this process, but it is my responsibility to put in the work and determination to do the best that I can, and feel good about it! It has to be pleasant despite the effort, never a burden. I am ready as the year already started and my first race is in March (NYC Half) with an ambitious goal - my breaking 2! 🇧🇷 Agora, com a inscrição de ontem, completei meu calendário de corrida de 2018! Run today is done and out of the way! It always feels so good to get a run done early in the morning! 8 miles done today. My first two miles hurt the soles of my feet but it was fine after that. Woke up at 4am today. My plan was to have some coffee, breakfast and warm up for my quality session before work. . . Of course that’s why my youngest decided to wake up at 4:30 and want snuggles. 😂 . . So I got her settled and started my run at 5:30am. . . I was tired today and my back has been acting up.... I kept the warm up slow and easy, I pushed the 200s and shuffled through the cool down. . . Haven’t had time to look at the stats, but I’m pleased I got this done. . . This sunrise was 1/2 mile from home and I had to pause.... it’s beauty gave me goose bumps. . . What a beautiful world.... all you have to do is look around. Rolou uns intervalados de 400 até o coração encostar nos dentes, e as pernas saírem sozinhas para o tiro.. hahaha. Senti o gosto da comida na boca, porém somente isso. I'm still riding the high of my half marathon from Sunday! Here's a mini report. . I wasn't looking at Houston as a redemption race, but rather an opportunity to use the fitness I had built up in my Indianapolis training cycle to run a fast half marathon. I knew that I had reached a new level of fitness and I felt that my half PR was soft at 1:33:36. . My coach emailed me two days before the race and told me to approach the race with a clear head in terms of goals. He didn't want me to limit myself by trying to hit certain paces on the Garmin and that I should run by feel. Which is exactly what I did. No real race strategy—just run strong, push hard, and let the splits be what they were. . I ended up running slightly positive splits due to the wind direction and maintained a consistent, strong effort throughout the race. Here are some final thoughts and takeaways: . 🔹 I was the 100th female finisher out of 6,100. The top 30 women all ran 1:15 or faster! 🔹 I placed 11th in my age group out of 1,007 🔹 Given how competitive this race is, I'm happy with my placement 🔹 I took a leap of faith and didn't let the Garmin rule my pace. Even though I wasn't aiming for the low 6:50s, I ran them as they came without holding back. Being "bold" with my racing is a new thing for me, and even though it resulted in a slow down at the end, I'm glad I wasn't overly cautious. 🔹 Looking at the McMillan calculator, this race predicts a 5K time of 19:57! I want a sub-20:00 5K so badly I can taste it. My finish time also predicts a faster 10K, 10-mile, and marathon time than what I have ever attained, so in relative terms, this is my fastest race ever. 🔹 If someone would have told me 10 years ago that I would come back to Houston 10 years later, I would have thought that I would have slowed down with age. I would never have guessed I would have run a 1:32! . I do think I have a 6:55/pace half in me, and I'll have the opportunity to do that at RNR New Orleans in 7 weeks. #halfmarathon

Antes de falar de estratégia de prova, preciso falar de planejamento e o que isso significa? TREINOS. . Foram 10 meses com 4 até 6 dias de treinos/semana. Havia também os “treinos triplos”. Três dias seguidos aumentando o volume em cada um para me aproximar da realidade do desafio. No início, foi tudo saindo lindo, porém foi numa fase em que comecei a ficar fissurada em bater RPs(recordes pessoais) e as coisas começaram a desandar. Dei altas quebradas em provas e treinos e comecei a ficar muito preocupada com essa obsessão de baixar tempo. Por mais que o desejo existisse, eu precisava agir com inteligência! Meta é bom, mas corrida é dia. Foi quando parei e foquei em cuidar da paixão e não em tempo, pois corria o risco de não aproveitar o que estava por vir. Entendi com essas más experiências onde estavam as falhas que precisava corrigir: hidratar melhor, suplementar melhor, evitar dar paradinhas, mas principalmente manter o prazer para ter o barato doido, entendem?! . Enfim... Dificilmente pulei treino e quando acontecia o coach rearrumava a planilha. No início, pareceu difícil, mas a coisa foi entranhando de tal forma que eu ia no piloto automático. Sozinha ou na madruga, não importava. Eu ia. . Em julho, comecei a fazer musculação. Isso fez muita diferença. Fortalecimento é tudo e se depois das provas eu estava inteiraça (também uma meta) devo a isso. Não fui a frequentadora mais feliz da academia, mas entendia sua importância. . Baseada então em tudo que experimentei nos treinos, minha estratégia foi ser mais comedida nos 5, 10 e 21k. Sabia que se pisasse fundo nessas provas não teria energia para chegar à última, digamos pelo menos, dignamente. . Pensando assim, decidi o seguinte para cada prova: • 5km: na casa dos 30 minutos. Sem desespero, sem pressa, curtindo e sorrindo para as fotos 😍. • 10km: sub 1 hora. No mesmo esquema da prova anterior. • 21km: sub 2 horas. Seguindo o baile dos 5 e 10km, mas apertando só um pouquinho porque não são duas provas de 10. Tem mais um 1km aí!!! • 42km: segura na mão de Deus e vai, filha!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 . Preparada? Sim.
