TEMPO TUESDAY 🇳🇮
Right on it this morning... Up early for a call with the #ugandamarathon team then out for a 25 min tempo along the shore of Lake Nicaragua. All before breakfast (banana pancakes & honey in case you're wondering...) with Spanish lessons to follow. Hope you've managed to make time for some exercise and trying something new today? You might like where it takes you*!

I’m regularly asked if I listen to music while I run, and the answer is no. Listening to music while running tends to take me away from focusing on my running and instead focusing on the music, and I feel I need to be mindful of each step I’m taking in order to accomplish my goals and engage in what I’m doing. I do however, listen to music BEFORE I run to get myself #motivated! This is part of the playlist I made for the #reddingmarathon, I was clearly really feeling #Sia and #Eminem this weekend.
Weakness is a closed door that is waiting to be opened. ***
Cross training with emphasis on core and chest. I will start running again tomorrow. •20 minutes stretch and foam roll
•20 minuted rowing •20 minutes of core and chest. I got creative because the weight benches were full. Drew from my P90X days.

It may have been sunny on today’s run, but it was colddddddd. Thankful I could get out there though. Hoping the cold air works to clear my head of this funk I’ve been in.
Not sure if it’s the #whole30 or the cold temps, but I’ve been struggling. I don’t have another way to describe it besides mental funk. @mattuher probably has another word for it. 🤔
So, I’m on Day 15; halfway through the #whole30aip, and it’s been wayyyyy harder than the last time (which was the traditional Whole30). It’s probably because I’ve had a few blah - or outright fail - dinners in a row. Major bummer. 🤬
Also discouraged that I’ve seen zero improvement in my autoimmune symptoms. I know 2 weeks isn’t enough time to make a difference, but it’s still discouraging. 🤷🏼♀️
Not much else to say except that I hope everyone else’s Whole30 is going better than mine!
A very easy 9.5 miles this morning. My mind wanders during easy paced runs and I think about everything and anything. The good. The bad. The ugly. I think about it all. It’s not that I solve anything when I think about things on a run, but what I think about starts and ends there on that run. They don’t follow me for the rest of the day. Running clears out the storage bank in my head. I’m also passing on the Tokyo Marathon. It’s not because I’m not ready or I’m injured, I just can’t swing it financially. I’ll get another opportunity. #igrunners#instarunners#imadopey#runnersofinstagram#runnerscommunity#marathoner#marathontraining
