Tour of East Gippsland had it’s ups and downs. It started with me up on the podium and then with me down on the ground!
I was so happy to take my first stage win in the opening Timetrial and then back it up with 3rd in the stage 2 sprint finish.
From that, to be leading the General Classification and to wear my first leaders jersey was absolutely unreal and I couldn’t have been happier going into stage 3.
I don’t know how it happened, but one second I was upright and the next I was hitting the road with 5k left to race and a broken bike. Whilst I was disappointed I couldn’t finish the race, I came away from the weekend stoked with how far I have come in the last year and proud of what I’ve achieved.
Massive thanks to everyone who has helped me come this far, you’re too many to mention, and thanks @cyclingvictoria for putting on a great weekend. Maybe next race I’ll even finish 🤙🏼🥇🥉
