🙏🏽Sunday was a big day for me! Back on heavy squats after a long time of doing mediocre weights and suffering from problems with my piriformis.... • 🤓Anyways I'm back up on the 110kg squats! Got 5 sets in at 3-5 reps.... • 🤔The reason I wanted to post this was mainly to demonstrate how time off from certain big lifts can be beneficial! If you use that time wisely.... • 💡Whatever the reason is! Leaving out squats was hard for me since I like to stick to heavy compound lifts, however my injury gave me a chance to explore unilateral movements such as the Bulgarian split squat. Even though I was unable to go incredibly heavy on this exercise it allowed me to sort out imbalances and practice engaging my core a lot more while squatting... • 🏆Unilateral training is a must for those who are athletes! Couple it with typical bilateral movements like squats and deadlifts and you'll be winning!! • 💪🏽Your boy has come back from injury stronger 🙌🏽

This is some solid progress right here! Smaller waist, wider more developed and tapered lats, bigger thicker muscles which ive always struggled with, and better definition/separation! Enjoy your accomplishments, however big or small theyre still accomplishments and you need to acknowledge them to keep progressing!

Comment 👇🏽 . . 👌I’ve decided to get an “early start” On shredding and get super lean over the next 2 months, because let’s be honest, it makes your physique look wayyyyy better and I’m sick of being 11-12% BF lol... . . ♦️During the summer I’ll go through a rotation of mini lean bulks and mini shreds to keep making progress! It’s so much easier to lean bulk when you are already low body fat and have some wiggle room with your macros. . . 🕺🏻Knowing your shredding macros is Soooooooo important. I personally do a bit of carb cycling and anabolic fasting when I Shred, meaning I don’t eat the same amount of carbs each day, and I’ll often skip breakfast and just drink EAA’s and pre workout for the first 4-6 hours of waking up. . . ♦️Shredding Pro Tip - be in a deficit the first 5 hours of the day! If you wake up and do nothing and have already eaten a 700 calorie breakfast, your gonna be playing catch up all day. Save your calories for later in the day post workout and dinner! . . 🤷🏻‍♂️💃🏻Confused? angry? Hate shredding? It’s really fun and simple with the right approach. 😵How do you make a Mega smile when he’s almost dead? ~ 🤓You convince him it’s a great idea to be Scott Abel’s workout partner for the day. ~ 😔I was stuck. I had been reading textbooks on anatomy, nutrition, psychology, chemistry, physiology, biomechanics - everything I could to further my knowledge of just how the heck to be the best contest prep coach possible. ~ 🤔How do I tie this all together? 😧When do I implement this nutrition strategy? 😰How do I know when to change this for that? 😫How do I maximize my client’s results? ~ 😐The more I learned, the more questions I had. This lead to many moments of self doubt, insecurity, anxiety, and worst of all - inaction. ~ 🚀If I could go back 10 years, and tell younger Mega only one thing to do differently on my quest to be the world’s greatest coach? ~ ☝️There would be no doubt in my mind what that one thing would be. ~ 🙏Seek out the best mentors ASAP. Spend all of your time possible learning from them. More importantly, spend time listening to them. ~ 🙌I am overwhelmingly appreciative that I can call Scott my mentor. I’m even more grateful that I can call him my friend as well. ~ 👨‍🏫Being able to learn from him directly, it rocketed my abilities as a coach to levels I didn’t think were possible. Medicine ball slams are a great dynamic exercise for developing strength and power while targeting your core muscles. Start by standing with your feet shoulder width apart and your knees slightly bent, bring the ball overhead and slam it on the ground in front of you as hard as you can, catch it on the rebound up and return to starting position.
