Take A Break: don't miss precious time with loved ones, those moments will never come again.... Money is here today...gone tomorrow... Trust God to meet your needs...it's okay to do well and have nice things.... but do not become so excited by the additional funds it blinds your perspective on what's important.... #riches#wealth#empowerment#power#family#perspective#priorities#influence

Never let someone tell YOU who YOU are. The only person that decides that IS you. If you want #happiness make your own, if you want #riches make your own, if you want #success MAKE YOUR OWN.
I've been told I was many things in my life, starting as early as I can remember. When my siblings and I were put into foster care the psychological evaluation said that I would never read above a second grade reading level, I was a lost cause...dirty, feral, #scared, #abu#abused, #scarred, #defiant. I was 7 years old and my destiny had been decided by an #old privileged #white#man who simply saw me as #trash...another drain on society, a statistic. He couldn't see the fire and he had no idea of what I was capable. He didn't see my #worth. I set out to prove him wrong and I certainly did. I read every book I could get my hand on. I wrote short stories and won awards. I didn't just #survive..I#THRIVED.
Unfortunately, there are some things that #childhood #abuse rips away from you...#trust and #safety being at the top of the list. Those are things I #struggle with to this day.
I've allowed people to treat me badly. I've lost myself and allowed #dishonesty and #betrayal. I let the fact that I'm a #MOTHERFUCKING#queen get #lost!!! There will be no more of that. Ever again.
Either #stay and #treat me as I should be treated or #move...you're#blocking my fucking #light.
"31 Flavas: Daily Tastes From the Wisdom of Proverbs". A devotional by @jediaeljohnson.
Day 23 - Flava of the Day: "Paper-Chasin" “Do not weary yourself to gain wealth, cease from your consideration of it. When you set your eyes on it, it is gone. For wealth certainly makes itself wings like an eagle that flies toward the heavens” – Proverbs 23:4-5 NASB
Now lest someone think I’m “anti-money”, let me set the record straight. Scripture is not anti-money. I’ve often heard people misquote by saying that money is the root of all evil. What the Word of God actually says is: “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs” (1 Timothy 6:10 ESV). So what’s at issue isn’t money or wealth in and of itself, but rather “paper-chasing” (to use the urban-contemporary vernacular). Even those who have historically been allowed by God’s grace to live comfortably have felt the crunch when the economy has not been well. I’ve even spoken with many homeless individuals who, not too long ago, owned property and ran businesses or were at the top of their professions. It doesn’t take much to “lose it all”. The writer of Proverbs knew what he was talking about when he wrote “for wealth certainly makes itself wings like an eagle that flies toward the heavens” (v. 5). That being the case, we need to guard our hearts and not wear ourselves out pursuing profit. “He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity” – Ecclesiastes 5:10
King Solomon wrote these words near the end of his life, and he was one of the wealthiest men alive! He was basically saying that the more we paper-chase, the more we’ll want, and we’ll never be satisfied with what we have. It’s all meaningless pride. Our Lord Jesus Himself said that where our treasure lies is where our hearts would be. [Follow #linkinbio to read the rest of today's devo]
