All I have been doing is packing, painting, and cleaning! We are on the move from Alberta back home to Saskatchewan and it is a big job to move😬. Does something like this sound familiar? "I don't have the time to get quiet and relax! There is so much to be done! My family needs me. The world needs me!! I gotta get shit done! NOW! I'll rest when I'm asleep or dead." As you probably know, I am a huge advocate for slowing down and getting quiet more. And...I am also an advocate of running around, working hard and getting crazy. :) Look, of course we don't want to veer off into permanent slothdom....but we also don't want to be in a constant state of intense activity and arousal. And that goes for the mind too. Our bodies require balance to function optimally. I'm gonna say that one more time: OUR BODIES REQUIRE BALANCE TO FUNCTION OPTIMALLY. If we are constantly going, going, going without rest we will eventually burn out. This burn out might look like sickness, chronic illness or mental breakdown. Our nervous system and all of the other bodily processes going on inside us absolutely need time to recharge. (speaking from experience over here!) I bring this up because most everyone I come into contact with nowadays is under a significant amount of stress. Especially with our current political climate. The scale has been tipped and collectively, we are not taking enough time to rest.
Yes, we absolutely need to stay active and it's important to push ourselves at times. The body actually needs stress to become stronger and more powerful. HOWEVER so many people take this to extremes these days. And even if your body is resting, if you are one your phone/computer/tv, your mind is still under stress due to all the stimulation. Your brain needs time to rest just like your body. We can't fully help others unless we are caring for ourselves.
All of this is backed up by scientific study upon study upon study. Just do a quick google search or I'm happy to share resources with you.
For me, discovering Yin Yoga and Meditation was pivotal for me. Both gave me time to slow down and really be with myself. All the tissues in my body were so happy to finally be given time to stretch out and rest. It literally feels like I am plugging myself in to recharge. (Continued ⬇️)

What’s Sadari’s go-to!? “I like to use essential oils on different pressure points (like behind my ears, on the insides of my wrists, the tops of my feet etc.) prior to doing yoga. Tee tree oil and eucalyptus oil are great for energy and lavender and sandalwood are good for relaxation.
