It’s been a week since the meet and I still feel like I’m on Cloud 9. It was such a great day!!! Here are all 3 squat attempts. All white lights. I was shaking so hard the first 2 attempts but by the 3rd, my confidence was much better! My original goal was a 335 squat on 3rd attempt, but due to my nerves, it was just not meant to be. For the past 8 weeks my running has slowly climbed up to 50-60 miles a week as I prepare to complete the @run@isney #goofychallenge in Orlando, Florida in 2 weeks- As a result, I've had to alter my #weighttraining some. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 I've scaled down to only strength training 4x a week and for the next 4 weeks I'll be incorporating higher reps, lighter weight to avoid injury by decreasing how much stress I put on my body. . . . I love to start my week with a solid leg workout. Today I did heavy squats. And light pause deadlift that didn't feel light at all though. I'm still experimenting with my feet stance, so please, don't write anything about my form now. With more narrow stance I feel safe but unfortunately I can't reach the parallel all the time, with wider stance my depth is good but hip flexors become to hurt... Mobility work, wait for me, I'm coming...

So last week was my post meet “take time off training” week. Well, it was Friday & I had still not tried the new Belt skwat at @roy@royal_oak_gym 😈😈it was time! . Nowwww lets get down to it! 👏🏽Bravvaaa @rea@realmattwenning, this machine is amazing 🙌🏽🔥very excited coach has me incorporating these in my new block!. . For someone who occasionally has some shoulder/back pain and recently a lot of neck pain, this machine was perfect. It will help you gain a lot of lower body strength without taxing your upper body!! Legit my legs are still feeling it and my upper body didn’t take a toll at all. . I really like the that the base gives you the choice to bring your stance as narrow or wide as you’d like. Looking forward to playing around with wide stance to help carry over to my deadlifts 😈🔥. . Took 4 plates for a ride and kept it at my usual skwat stance! Now, it is said that this is very similar to a straight bar squat and since my max is roughly 270 I thought 4 plates would would be good to work up to for some fun. . I picked my next meet (will be my 2nd FULL POWER meet) and i am hungry for a BIG SKWAT! Very excited to see what this machine will do for my training!. . Who out there has used this machine!? A week later, the NFL announced that he had violated the league's performance-enhancing-drug policy and tested positive for Turinabol. He was suspended four games, but denied any wrongdoing. In a statement at the time, he said he had never "knowingly taken any banned substances." > Kerley said: "I am 5-foot-9 tall and 180 pounds, and I have never used steroids in my life," he said. "I'm a good athlete, but anyone can look at my body composition and tell that I'm not a steroid user. MIND-MUSCLE CONNECTION🌱 What is it? Why it’s important? 👇🏼 Mind-muscle connection: The synergy between brain and the targeted muscle which allows you to visualize the muscle you are working. Leading to better muscle work efficiency. Basically- when you can see the muscle you are working in your mind, and being able to focus on that muscle as you are working it. In this video, all I was imagining was my lats making this exact movement= muscle-mind connection. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?🤷🏻‍♀️ You get a better workout, and you make more GAINZZZZ! When you have mind-muscle connection, you are focusing on your prime movers (the main muscle you are working on in your exercise). If you simply perform the exercise and are not entirely focused, you may end up working out more of your secondary movers (muscles supporting the primary movers) which is not the outcome you are working for! Set your bar low, and your expectations even lower. But my "low bar" still looks like a high bar. Much LULZ! Worked up to 170kg x 1at RPE 7-ish. I was supposed to hit RPE 8, but I was more than happy that the 170kg moved pretty fast, so I decided against going any heavier. Followed that up with 4 sets of 115kg x 8. That's my cardio quota for the whole of 2017 and 2018 right there! Anyways, instead of having to lose 4kg to get to a much healthier 95kg, now I need to lose a total of 11kg to get to 88kg. 🚨 HOW TO PROPERLY USE YOUR GLUTES DURING SQUATS! 🚨 A big misconception in the weightlifting community is to squeeze your glutes as hard as you can during squats. This usually results in the lifter pushing their hips forward and causing unwanted back pain. Understand that the glutes have more than one action - they are responsible for extension, internal/ external rotation along with stabilizing the knee joint. Clenching your glutes during a squat will only target one portion of the gluteal muscles and will not help increase overall stability. Improper Usage of Glutes: 💥 Feet are flat with arches dropped 💣 Knees caving in and heavily relying on the quadriceps to stand up 🔥 Pushing the hips forward at the top of a squat and clenching the glutes Proper Usage of Glutes 1️⃣ Imagine standing on top of a pinched towel and spreading the towel with your hips and feet 2️⃣ Corkscrew (outwards) the feet into the towel with only the hips without moving the feet 3️⃣ Avoid pushing the hips forward at the top of a squat Using a pinched towel and practicing these cues will help activate all the different fibers of the glutes for a more stable and efficient squat. Avoid pushing the hips forward and forcefully contracting the glutes to finish your squat as this can lead to a lack of lower back and pelvis stability! . 🍑 TAG A FRIEND THAT DOESN'T USE THEIR GLUTES IN SQUATS! 🍑 #LuStrengthTherapy
