Näistä vanhoista tuoleista tulikin omaan silmään yllättävän nättejä. Kyllä puussa on vaan kauniit kuviot. #oldchairs#makeover#woodisbeautiful
As I get ready to start a new era of creative projects, I’m going to share some of my favourite painted furniture projects of the past 5 years. First up is the Antique Embossed Bentwood Chairs. Shown here are half of the set of six, all dating back to 1890s and from Eastern Europe. I acquired them for my home, but being a self confirmed “chair-aholic” I was persuaded to contribute them to shop display use. They were acquired in shabby worn dark timber finish. To freshen them up we painted each with four coats of Chalk Paint™️ by Annie Sloan in Pure White. No stripping, sanding, or priming required ! Then we distressed the pressed timber seats to reveal the embossed pattern. Finished in Clear Soft Wax. A gorgeous makeover that saw these chairs well admired. I got talked into selling. But often wish I’d kept them, they were that nice ! #brocantespirit#chalkpaint#furnituremakeover#paintedfurniture#favouriteproject#bentwood#oldchairs#paintitwhite#fabulous#wishidkeptthem
Two of my favorite chairs. I can't wait for the weather to change, so I can clean these up, add pillows and sit out in the fresh air on the deck and enjoy. The one on the left was my mothers. I love everything about it. I have never tried to change it. The one on the right I found while junkin because I didn't want the other one to be lonely. It rocks. They make good friends. I love how they are so different yet so alike. I wouldn't change them for anything.
I had been on the hunt for the perfect set of bride & groom sweetheart chairs for our wedding this coming September, and while on our way to the Hillsville Flea Market in Virginia, I spotted these vintage high back stunners on the side of the road. I left paying $15 for the pair.
They were originally a dark cherry and although I’m not a fan, I was tempted to leave them as is because they were just that beautiful [swipe to see them in their original state].
But of course the artist inside of me was dying to add my personal touch to them and I’m pretty happy that I did. I wanted to keep them looking and feeling old so I hit them up with a little dry brush technique followed by an antiquing glaze [my go to] and I’ve been swooning over them ever since.
Needless to say, I cannot wait to sit in these and eat cake after we say our I do’s. 💕
