I had the pleasure of speaking with these two 9/11 responders today. I've interviewed John Feal on many occasions, but this was my first time meeting John Coughlin. He's the tall guy in the middle. A Sayville resident, Coughlin spent decades helping others as a member of the NYPD's Emergency Services Unit. Now he needs our help. John has kidney disease, and desperately needs a transplant. And though it's not a minor procedure, you can donate a kidney and lead a perfectly normal life. Most donors are out of the hospital within 48 hours of surgery. If you are interested in helping him out, or to learn more about live donor transplants, call Stony Brook Medicine at 631-444-2209.
CANINE EDDIE: Deputy #NYPD Commissioner, Larry Byrne, pets Canine Eddie on the steps of St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The dog is named for Byrne’s brother Edward, who was just 22 when he was assassinated by a drug gang 30 years ago this coming week. Today was Eddie Byrne’s Birthday—and his brother wanted to celebrate his legacy.
