Ormai lo sapete, sono milanese di origine e per scelta: amo la mia città, amo passeggiare per le sue strade e piazze. Adoro scoprire e provare posti nuovi, ma anche vivermi i luoghi storici e più famosi, lasciarmi meravigliare dalla maestosità e bellezza dei suoi monumenti, incantarmi camminando tra le vie dove si riesce ancora a respirare il sapore vero ed autentico di questa città ormai cosmopolita. Il Castello Sforzesco è uno di quei luoghi a cui lego i miei ricordi di bambina e mi vedo piccina, in fila per due, alla gita della scuola. Il profumo delle caldarroste, le voci delle scolaresche, lo scrociare della fontana mi fanno apparire come dei flashback immagini sparse di vecchi ricordi e quel pizzico di nostalgia prende il sopravvento. If this was about how I looked... I would have quit a long damn time ago. This is about being a better mom. A better partner. A better friend. A better human. When you FEEL like shit... you ACT like shit. If you can give yourself anything... give yourself a positive outlook on your health and where it is heading. I can sit here and preach to you about how I’ve hit my lowest weight in 9 months. Without restricting & binging. And fact that yes it is a nice by product of my health. But that’s not whats important. The happiness that has come from a health centred program is almost beyond words. I’m the first to sit here and tell you... I can lose 20 pounds in 21 days. And on day 22 I’m eating every damn thing in sight and putting every pound and then some on. I had to STOP setting crazy goals in unrealistic time crunches. It was killing my body. It was killing my self esteem. It was making me resent food and exercise. The consistency in the last 5 months has been so amazing. The positive outlook I have on my body is mind blowing. There are days where I’m frustrated. Challenged. Annoyed. But I still show up. For me. For my son. For my partner. For my family. You can too.

I have so very much to be thankful for. My life is rich with love, family, and friends. I am the healthiest and happiest, and most at peace I have ever been. Today I will honor the memories of previous Thanksgivings by enjoying this one. I will choose today to smile, and be happy, and enjoy the day just as it is. I will be thankful today for all that I have and all that I am. I know holidays are hard for many people, for many reasons. I urge you to find things to be thankful and grateful for today. No matter how dire things are, there are still things to be thankful for. Don't spend today lingering on loss, regret, the past, what could have been or what once was. Cherish those happy memories, but don't get caught up in them. Live this day today with gratitude and presence.

This woman, the one who sets her alarm to get up and work out on Thanksgiving morning, is almost unrecognizable to me. I am different. I think, I am better. I know I am stronger and much healthier.
