So proud to be part of the Women in Conservation Day today! I had the sea turtle/marine debris booth 😉👍 One of my favorite moments from the day, when one of the little girls looked at my portable beach wrack/marine debris display and asked "Can I clean up all the trash in it, I can't stand looking at all that garbage"...I'm right there with you girl! Go for it! 👍😊 . #marinedebris #seaturtles #education #outreach #WomenInConservation #MyFWC #ProtectWhatYouLove #livethelifeyoulove #lovethelifeyoulive #lovemyjob #funjob #DrMcGee #girlpower #girlboss #whorunsthisworldGIRLS #science #STEM #nextgeneration #conservation #nat#nature #plasticpollution #EndMarineDebris #waterlust #beachcleanup #nature #wildlife #florida #loveFl #saltlife #reducereuserecycle #bethechange

Alligators and storms 🐊⛈ Alligators may be observed more frequently after a major storm event, especially in areas with flooding. If you see one, treat it with respect by giving it plenty of space. Most alligators avoid humans, and alligator bite incidents resulting in serious injury are a rare occurrence in Florida. If you have a concern about an alligator, please call our Nuisance Alligator Hotline at 866-FWC-GATOR (866-392-4286). Snakes and storms 🐍⛈ After a major storm event, snakes can become displaced and may be seen more frequently, particularly in areas with flooding. If you see one slithering near you, treat it with respect by giving it space. It is likely just trying to find a safe and dry place to take shelter until floodwaters recede. Snakes prefer to avoid encounters and will usually stay clear of humans. Remember, all native snakes – venomous or non-venomous – serve an important role in our ecosystem. #Snake #Storm #Hurricane #HurricaneIrma #Irma #Flooding #Wildlife #Conservation #MyFWC #FWC #Picoftheday #Photooftheday #Florida FWC photo by Bekah Nelson

WMA status update🌅 With the health and safety of Florida residents and visitors top of mind, we are working with our partners to assess both FWC-managed and cooperative wildlife management areas currently closed due to impacts from Hurricane Irma. Some WMAs already have reopened. For the current status of WMAs, shooting ranges and other facilities swipe up on our Instagram story! When WMAs reopen, they will be removed from that list. Keep checking back, since we will regularly update that webpage. FWC photo by David Moynahan #WMA #Update #Wildlife #Management #Area #Conservation #Florida #HurricaneIrma #Irma #MyFWC #FWC
