In the 1960s, Debbie suffered several miscarriages. She told Lloyd Shearer, "The Doctor suggested that I do exercises to strengthen my stomach muscles, so I began dancing again. Next thing I remember saying to myself, 'Why not get an act up?' Las Vegas has been after me to do a show for the past six or seven years, so I got Bob Sidney to prepare one for me. I rehearsed and rehearsed, and broke it in down in Houston. I sing and dance and do imitations, and the people seem to like it."
"I decided that a man who loved children so much was essentially a good and kind man. Harry has more qualities than those. He's got a fine business head, and because he's older than I (18 years older) he has a great variety of experience. He handles all our business deals. For example, he was the one who was an instrumental in booking me into the Hotel Riviera in Las Vegas. One of his friends, Sydney Korshak, is the attorney for the Riviera, which is how I came to play there."
