One of the perks of being a #mominmedicine. Everyone always tells me “idk how you do it “ but idk how I would do it without him ! Or my extremely supportive and wonderful husband. They ground me and keep me sane. This journey is rough and they are my escape. When I come home I can forget about the exams and stress for a while and enjoy my boys. I enjoy the cuddles and the hugs and can’t wait for the big “mommmy!!! “ when I pick him up. He pushes me to work my hardest. I want to show him no matter what life puts in front of you , if you have a dream to pursue it. To get up when you fall down, to say I can even when people say you can’t or it’s going to be tougher for you. I think the exact opposite he made it better. He makes it worth it . I want to show him by example. I have had many people stand in my way, I had people tell me it’s going to be especially difficult for me to be a mother and do this. But you know what I did and I did it exceptionally well. I am proud of that, and I know I didn’t do it on my own. I had my boys and my family to support me but still I did it. One semester down. #osteopathicmedicine#medicine#medicalstudent#medstudent#medicalstudents#medicalschool#Do#studying#premed
Slicing that enormous polycystic kidney in half, look what’s inside!!
The patient is 54-years-old and the massive kidney on the picture weighed 5.2 kg. The patient had another severely affected kidney which was just about the same size but would first be transplanted with the help of one of his brother's kidneys.
He received dialysis twice a week due to end-stage renal failure until the surgery was done.
Macroscopically the kidney demonstrates a large number of cysts of variable size (from a few mm to many cm), in both the cortex and medulla. They are filled with fluid of variable colour (from clear or straw colored to altered blood or chocolate colored to purulent when infected).

A 3-D image of the heart and the fibers that control heart rhythm!!
Scientists at the University of Liverpool used a micro CT scanner to image hearts that had been treated with iodine to highlight different parts of the cardiovascular tissue. It was found that the solution was absorbed less significantly by the conducting parts of the heart compared to the muscular parts of the organ, which allows scientists to clearly identify the areas that produce the electric activity. This creates a high-resolution 3-D image of the conducting tissue, fully identifying the network that controls the rhythm of the heart!!
Dr. Jonathan Jarvis is excited about the potential to continue to improve the technique. “Computer models based on these high-fidelity images will help us to understand why the heart rhythm is vulnerable to changes in heart size, blood supply, or scarring after a heart attack,” said Dr. Jarvis. “One of the major concerns for surgeons in repairing malformed hearts, for example, is to avoid damage to the tissue that distributes electrical waves. If they had access to 3-D images of the conducting tissues in malformed hearts, however, it could be possible to understand where the conducting tissue is likely to be before they operate.” .

Transplante Renal 💉
A kidney transplant is a surgical procedure to place a healthy kidney from a live or deceased donor into a person whose kidneys no longer function properly.
The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs located on either side of the spine just below the rib cage. Each one is about the size of a fist. Their main function is to filter and remove excess waste, minerals and fluid from the blood by producing urine.
Last night we heard a knock on the front door 🚪 and look 👀 what we found. A cute little ⭐️ decorated ⭐️ real Christmas tree 🎄. @mannimals (my BFF since high school) was trying to leave it anonymously ✌🏼🎅🏼, but she accidentally got caught 😳🎄🤷🏼♀️ by my son 👦🏼 @bubba.fordham (who was getting dropped off 🚙 💕🏡 by another friend after wrestling practice). Her cute kids even made the ornaments! ❤️👏🏻 I am not good at receiving things like this because there a lot of other people who need it way more than me, but this is one of those sweet acts of kindness that I will always hold dear to my heart ❤️. This has been by far one of the hardest years that I can remember so this means more than words can express. Misty has always been such a good friend, and she always shows up unexpected. She never asks what I need; she's just there. Thanks 🙏🏻 Misty from the bottom of my heart! Don't be mad 😡😤 that I posted this. 😬 I know that you would have rather stayed "unknown"... but too late! You're the bestest friend I could have ever asked for. You always have my back, and it doesn't go unnoticed or unappreciated. I love you my friend 😘💕. Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 ❤️🎅🏼🙏🏻💕 #merrychristmas#medicalstudent#toobusy#medschool 📝👋🏼🎅🏼👎🏻
