Karl Roberson and I talked about it on the Hivecast and somebody mentioned it today; when you watch Karl fight, you can see he is trying to hurt his opponent. He isn't fighting to win, he is fighting to hurt. This is why he wins.
Say what you want about this but combat sports is a hurting business. If you don't do it, it will be done to you. It's the agreement that is made between combatants. Respect the commitment and do your job.
The culture at my gym is training to hurt, grounded by humility. We train to be our best and to be willing to put everything on the line when faced with challenges. Knowing how far this could go keeps us humble. We are all vulnerable, this is why we have to train so hard.
We are humble in the face of pain, injury, defeat, or even death, we are afraid, but we are not backing down. We would rather die than quit, die than not start…
When my good friends over at the biggest and best Bad Ass site on IG @bad@bad_ass_official sent me a shirt and asked for a Scissorhands video I wanted to make it extra special so I decided to speak in this one :) Thanks for the love @bad_ass_official ! When making this video I was searching for motivation and I was thinking about the people who have come and gone those who didn't believe in me. We often take motivation from positive things but I also take it from negative things. At the end of the day I'm grateful for all my experiences because they all made me the person I am today. I want to thank those who support me and I promise I've only just begun. ❤️ #SpeedBagScissorhands ✂️👊🏼👊🏼 ps yes that's a triple spin 😜
