Leap of Faith. Ten months ago, I left my stable job to follow my passion as a freelance photographer. That leap of faith has been one of the best decisions of my life. I just wanted to take a minute to thank all the friends who have supported me, hired me to take photos for them, or just shared words of encouragement along the way. Choosing to forge my own path in the world was scary but you all helped me realize I'm not alone on this journey.

22.10 / you know what, i can over think everything and find a million ways to doubt myself. and since Charles left I've been really thinking about that part of myself and, I've just come to realize that, we're only here briefly. and while i'm here, i wanna allow myself joy. so fuck it.

Yesterday very early morning commute for a tiny handful of Bonac commercial fishermen catching bass inshore and taking names/ not going to school (I see you @fish347). Drove nearly 4,000 miles and 9 states in the last few weeks. Tomorrow I'll tell you all about the criminalization of home births and talking about toxic masculinity in coal country with my favorite pastor and how a former Lynard Skynard roadie tricked me into a spiritual awakening driving over a state line for a case of soda and to visit a cemetery. Today- this was one of the first things I saw when I got home this weekend. I always try to end my long trips the same way I start them to see what has changed. Didn't exactly work that way this trip. But I did get to sleep in my own bed and drive down the beach following the tracks of a procession of trucks driving to meet the dory down the beach. In the fall you get a brief moment when you can see the stars and the sun simultaneously. The last of the nighttime bugs chirping away. Put my dude in the passenger seat, my jeep in 4 wheel drive and I realized nothing changed because of this trip. Just deeper appreciation for what has always been there. Cavafy once wrote that no ship will take you away from yourself. Israel once wrote that the only advice she's ever been given that actually matters is that when peeing outside always point your butt downhill. I photograph what "home" looks like to different people. Happy to have a pretty good one to come home to when I'm on break from that. Here's to all the folks who know about the holy trinity of crickets and the Dipper and the simultaneous sunrise. And here's to the dudes who hurl a boat into the ocean from the back of a truck every day and are gone before you even bust out your Chemex. . . . . . . . . #bonac #bub #fishing #commercialfishing #home #blackandwhite #blackandwhiteisworththefight #dory #amagansett #longisland #newyork #hamptons #thehamptons #photojournalism #documentary #vsco #vscocam #vanlife #isamyth #beepbeepjeep #iloveindoorplumbing #ifyl #humbleweekendz #roadwarrior #bass #ontheroad #strongisland #denise #easylikeasundaymorning #latergram
