Old deck remnants make temporary steps at #L2HQ. The new deck won’t go down until spring while we wait for some ground to settle, so in the meantime we fashioned some steps from old joist boards to give access to the back door.
Alton has numerous impressive examples of almost every architectural style popular in the Midwest from the mid 1800s to the mid 1900s. This is especially true for the Italianate style. Here is yet another one of the many beautiful Italianate homes I saw when I visited Alton. I really like this one's second story porch balustrade, brackets, and tall, narrow windows.
